Guest guest
Dear All Ref: Times of India article " Sex on call: Cut out the sleaze, please " by ANUBHA SAHWNEY. TIMES NEWS NETWORK [sUNDAY, APRIL18, 2004 01:15:27 AM] This article is exactly what i was looking for to counter Mr Rama Mohan's posting on licensing of sex industry. While i can maybe sympathise with his sentiments, this article proves with impressive figures that there is no point in blinding ourselves to reality with blinkers. Sex industry is a reality to be accepted and licensing it will at least give respite (and perhaps more than 10% of the income generated!) to the women who are victims in it, for whatever reasons (surely even Mr Rama Mohan cannot think they are in it for the pleasure!). We can understand why in London and other developed countries sex work is legalised. This not only provides people in the industry dignity but also gives them rights. Hopefully in India legalising the sex industry will at least provide basic right of health and protection against STDs/HIV to commercial sex workers.
