Guest guest
I vaguely remember some study with Vit A but I believe it was smokers who had increased mortality with it. Not sure why he wouldn't recommend Vit C. Something sounds off there. I have never heard that before. Where did he get his training? The JAMA is, of course, the Journal of the American Medical Association. I understand it's " respected " but I am suspicious of anything they have to say anyway--traditional medicine and all. Guest guest
Hi winnie He seems to be confused. Why is he looking at JAMA anyway. I guess it is important to see both sides but he is believing it! I did further research and what I found was there was an increase in mortality with Vitamin A (beta-carotine) and vitamin E. the potential roles of Vitamin C and Selenium on mortality need further study. This is from the JAMA site. There are other sites that include C in the increase of mortality rate. Guest guest
I think you are doing great! The cod liver oil is the only concern I have. I have read that it is to high in vit A and I am afraid of the mercury. I give my 14 month old enzymes(for cooked foods only), probis, lemon water for vit c. I think I will do krill oil for omega-3. I am stumped for D and A. What multi is your little one on? Regards correy PS can we really trust JAMA studies? Guest guest
I, too, was concerned about the cod liver oil and the mercury but was told by several doctors that the mercury was essentially non-existant. I still have my doubts. On the advice of a well-known doctor in florida (wunderlich) I am using children's .multi-vi-min by allergy research group it has vitamin a in it, too (800 iu). Lemon water? do you just add lemon to water? how much vit c is in that do you think? On the advice of that same doctor, i am using vit d drops, every other day. Biotics Research corporation bio-d-mulsion does krill oil not have mercury in it? how much do you give? Guest guest
I don't know if I agree with what your doctor said about the mercury. I think most of the US waters are polluted to a certain degree. And, I don't know if it is much better in other places. What type of doc is he? I am so bad at explaining krill oil. It is a small creature. The larger fish eat other fish which contain mercury. Therefor, krill is a purer choice. It doesn't eat the larger fish it is to small Check out Mercola.com. search for krill oil. Yes, I just squeeze some into water and give it to her right away. I know she is not getting tons of C from what I do but I feel more comfortable giving her that then the supplements for C. The ascorbic acid is to acidic and the other non acidic one (ascorbate ?) uses bicarb to off set the acidity. I try to stay away from synthetic vitamins when ever I can. It is not always possible.(formula fed from three months on...:0( ) I do give her lots of sour fruits...kiwi, granny smith, berries. I try to stay away from real sweet fruit. But, I need to increase the types of fruit she eats. So, I plan on giving her a very small portion of the sweeter fruits so she gets what they have to offer. I will need to wait however, I have suspicions of candida ... I want to hold off with the reeeeal sweet fruit till I get the OAT rest results. I am concerned about vit D because it is getting cold out and even though we go out everyday most of her body is bundled up. I think you need at least 40 percent of your skin showing to get the proper amount of rays. So, I am looking for a vit D supplement. How much would the dosage be for a 14 month old? Do you know? How much are you giving? Why did the doctor say he wants your child to take it? (sorry, about the third degree!!! LOL) I guess I should be consistent and give her the foods that contain D. I don't know if that is enough. (she can be a picky eater) I would love to find a toddler " food state " or " from food " vitamin. It is getting late. oooo it's 10pm!! LOL I can't see straight. I am addicted to this group! Guest guest
Two doctors recommended the cod liver oil, one was a DAN doctor (who also recomm the b12 shots) and the other a pediatrician who specializes in vacc injuries. as far as vit d, the doctor recomm just one drop every other day. This doctor helped me with her constant cough and her apparent immune system weakness (as revealed by the cough and her vacc injury). I am not sure what the dosage would be for a 14 month old but you could call the maufacturer. hope that helps! Guest guest
It can be tiring to breastfeed, especially if you have to get up constantly at night. That's why I always had mine in bed with me. Just be aware that you might not have the restful, all night long sleep by stopping breastfeeding. Other moms here might have some experiences pro and con they can share, but babies do continue to wake up at night. But you do what to have to. A rested mom who functions is important for a happy baby. Winnie Naturo confusing me. > > > > > > Vaccinations > > > > > > > > > > > > > Here is part of the email he sent me. Guest guest
Would you try alternatives to help you sleep? There are so many that are healthier then prozac. It caused me to have liver issues. I would first try chamomile at bed time. Then there are tons of others you can try. Search...natural remedies for insomnia. Is there anyway you could pump then feed later. Would that help you with the sleep issue? Guest guest
i will try the tea again but insomnia is something that i have been dealing with well before our baby. i have tried all kinds of stuff. i don't even feed her from the breast, i pump, for the simple fact that my husband can feed her at night. i have all night to sleep, i just don't :-( i have a serotonin problem, even st. john's wort didn't help. today i cried in the doctor's office (her 8 month appt) b/c i am so run-down and need to get myself some help. not to mention, the dr was pushing her 8 month vaccinations saying that we can take the pertussis out of the dtap and she will be fine. no way! Guest guest
Here are some suggestions. First, stay away from the pediatrician if you're feeling pressured. The baby will be okay not getting checked when she's fine. Second, do you have a naturopath? I think they can help with how you're feeling. Is this your first baby? It can be really overwhelming with the hormones and the adjustment to this new little person. The lack of sleep is something we all have experienced and it sounds as if it's catching up to you. You could be experiencing some post-partum depression. At the very least, until your baby is about a year old, you just might not feel up to snuff. That was always my light at the end of the tunnel, the one year mark when I started to get back to myself again. Definitely take care of yourself and let us know what happens.
