I believe that many on the list don't bother. If their children are well there

is no reason to take them to a dr for a vaccine marketing opportunity. Also, I

believe that many are pressured to vaccinate during these visits so it's not

worth the grief to turn up for a confrontation.

Others whose dr's are supportive do attend just to establish a relationship with

the dr.

Many go to ND's or chiropractors instead.

I'm a Grandma now and my grandson goes to the dr only when unwell - he got

roseola once, so he's been to the dr once. No treatment was necessary as they

attend a holistic dr who doesn't drug fevers, thank heavens.

Do you still take your children to the Dr. for " well visits " even if you aren't

vaxing?

We stopped vaxing our first daughter after her 12 month visit but still went to

the

recommended appts. at 15mo and 18mo. She hasn't been to the Dr. since then,

she's 3 1/2.

My second daughter is 17mo and hasn't been vaxed at all, but I've taken her to

all of the

scheduled well visits. I just wondered what the rest of you do.

I have 3 unvaxed children. I wanted a ped in case of an emergency or if I

needed to call for anything. We go to 2 weeks well check, refuse all vax of

course, and that's it. But its nice to have them there in case. One example

is my middle child, my son. He only went to his 2 week visit but when he was

1 his elbow came out of socket- he was walking around holding his arm and

crying in pain- I had NO idea what was wrong with him so I took him to my peds

that day. They immediately knew what it was (they call it nurses maid elbow

and evidently its quite common) - they poped it back in immediately and he

was instantly better and stopped crying, I was so relieved and so happy. I

learned to do it myself but having that little relationship I did with that ped

saved me a long and dreadful ER trip.

I also stopped going to the doctors. The doctor I did have when my

second was born, said he wouldn't treat her because we weren't vaxxing

so I stopped... I had a Homeopath anyway. I have a 15 mo who has never

been to the doctor, he was born at home. I wish all my children were

born at home... He is the only one out of 4 who I know is totally

unvaxxed. My first 2 were, and I swear my 3rd was jabbed without my

consent. We all have been doing well so far!!!

I don't take either of my children to the " well " checks anymore. I did with my

first son who is fully vaxed up to 2years. The paed did not pick up s

poor muscle tone, or the fact that he has sensory processing disorder despite

the fact we mentioned concerns over his unintelligable speech, and his

clumsiness. Also, when was admitted to hospital for an unexplained high

fever 10 days after his measles vaccination, the same paed, questioned us

regarding his health and kept asking if was up to date with all of his

vaccinations. We did mention he had received his measles vaccination just 10

days earlier, he never once told us he suspected it could be a vaccine reaction,

but thinking back I now know that is what he was thinking. We saw the

paediatrician after was diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. We

told him about it, and he said he had never heard of it, he actually seemed

quite amused by it, as if to say, " oh what will they think out next " , and then

he started to tell us about this new fantastic vaccination for pnuemonia and

meningitis. Even if I wanted to take my kids for the checks I wouldn't, our

Paeds are brainwashed and I don't want to spend money on them promoting the

latest " fantastic " vaccinations.

Oh our x paed also had an article pinned up on his notice board, about the " lie "

that vaccinations cause autism. If I could find a paed that truely has our

childrens well being at heart and is not brainwashed by big pharma, then I might

take them.

We do. It gives us a chance to form a relationship with the doctor, and to get

a sense of how he deals with minor issue. That way if there is a true emergency

illness, we already have a comfort level with him and a sense of his point of

view.

I take my kids to their well visits up to the 2 month one and then every six

months after that. They are completely unvaxxed and are almost 2 months and 18

Mine don't see docs for " well visits " at all. My six-month-old has

never seen an allopath and my three-year-old only saw an allopath for

an emergency situation that needed surgical intervention. If I have

my way neither of them will ever see an allopath again. My chiro sees

my kids regularly for TRUE " well visits " . :)

Nope. My kids are older now, but we stopped early on, and only went for

physicals to hand in health forms for the school, camps, etc.

F,

We don't see a ped any longer. We stopped at 12mos and dd is now 3 1/2.

We do have a family practitioner for emergencies (knows and respects

where we stand and FP's generally don't care too much about vaxs). We

regularly see a chiropractor (who has children between 1 and 6). I

enjoy the freedom to ask questions anytime. I'm due with our second in

January and will need to find a ped out of that hospital for the baby

to be released (our FP isn't associated with that hospital). I'm very

nervous about that, but supposedly the baby will stay with us 100% of

the time, and I will have a clearly stated birth plan. I don't plan to

take that baby to a ped or the fp. Dd went to chiro at 4 days and we

plan to do that with this one also. As far as I see, well visits are

designed for vaxs. (How ironic they're taking your " well " baby and

injecting toxins at a " well " visit. And how crazy it is that the

parents don't question that a " well " visit ends with fevers,

crankiness, etc...) You know if there's something wrong with your baby.

And if you're not sure, there are plenty of resources (including this

wonderful group) to help guide us. Sometimes peds make us second guess

ourselves. We went to the ped a lot with dd because she was small. Born

at 5 1/2lbs full term, they questioned why she was only 9lbs at 6mos.

She never lost weight, never had digestive problems, was completely

healthy, but he wanted us to go to a GI dr and a nutritionist.

Thankfully I have a supportive family that assured me she was healthy

and told me to cancel everything. She was 15lbs at 1yr and is now 30lbs

and is still healthy. I believe peds are also much harder on first time

parents and are able to persuade them into vaxing if they don't have a

definite/confident commitment. I was in tears when he told me we had to

see a GI because I was " going to start stunting her growth and her

brain development " . No mother needs to go through that, feeling she's

not taking the best care of her child, when in her heart she knows her

baby is healthy. We never went back to him, which is unfortunate

because, except for that incident, I really think he was a good ped.

(remember, don't sign a vax exemption form from the drs)

Ok. Thanks.

My Ped doesn't pressure me at all but she's not really supportive either. The

nurses usually

say something and look at me like I'm crazy. We don't have a Naturopath anywhere

near us

that I can find. There is a Homeopath about 30-45 minutes away but I haven't

seen her. I'd

like to establish a relationship with her just in case I need her, but I just

haven't yet.

Thank you

Hi

I skipped many of her visits mainly in flu season.

My daughter is 14 months now. I recently brought her in to have her

turned in foot looked at.

The doc got mad at me for not bringing her in every well visit. He

said he needed to listen to her heart. He didn't realize she had

been to a naturopath, as-well. However, I try not to bring her into

either doc if it is flu season.

I do and I have 2 kids (3 1/2 yrs and 18 mo) I do it so there is a realtionship

in case there is an emerg. the Dr knows my kids and there is history there in

case anything comes up health wise and a paper trail if any thing happened to my

kids being un-vaxed wise goes.

My lo is only 2 1/2 months so we only just decided not to vax, but we

do plan on continuing with his well visits. Partially to have a

relationship with a physician for when he is ill, but also because as a

first time mom I like to be able to ask questions about things like

milestones and chart his growth, etc.

I had my infant twins in well visits for a few months, until I knew

they were growing properly and had several " OK " visits, meaning they

were very healthy. After that we had one well visit with our

Naturopathic M.D. at 18 months and again at 5yo.

I suggest finding a good pediatric chiropractor to see your children

for well visits. HTH. -Arlynn

We do go to well visits, a family I know discovered a life threatning

condition at a well visit, plus I like to have an established

relationship with our doctor. We have been in a few times for " sick "

visits, which were really just new mommy moments(o: She knows we don't

vax & told us to skip flu season last year & at our one year she told

us she likes to see her patients atleast once a year. DS is 14 months

old.

Hi !

With so many " doctors " turning in their parents these days, if you

haven't found a naturopathic doctor or someone else to see your child,

I would probably still attend the well baby visits (just don't sign

anything - bring it home to read first). A lot of people on here

choose to forego these visits (I was contemplating it also), but they

are about more than just vaccines I was told by my son's practice.

They measure your child's head circum., check weight, check length,

observe milestones, etc. It is all about what you are comfortable

with. If anything was ever wrong with my son, the last thing that I

would want them to say is that I was a neglectful parent!!

I no longer do, though our ped never gave us grief about not vaxxing. I

stopped at 2 years - is now 4. I took him in a few months back

(the pre-K we were considering required a form). They took us in no

problem. I do take to a chiro weekly and I have a homeopath to

turn to in case I need help. So far he just hasn't been sick beyond an

occasional cold !

, I may be in the minority here. I do take my daughter (14 months)

to her well visits. I like to know her accurate weight and height (done

there). I also like to just generally have her checked out. Ask questions

that I may have regarding her development or anything else. Our

pediatricians office is great. We stated at our first visit that we will not

be vaccinating our child and the only thing that is said at each well visit

regarding vaccinations is " are we doing any shots today? " when we say no,

our pediatrician says ok, no problem, if you decide to bring her in for

shots later on you can just feel free to do so whenever you wish. They

don't pressure us at all. I like taking her for my own sanity. I like

asking different questions regarding my daughters development, nutrition

etc.

That's great, Jenn, and whether you realized it or not, they are learning from

you. Surely other families who go to that ped will benefit from what you do.

If anyone is interested, and hasn't happened by this site yet, you can get free

printable growth charts, at this link:

http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/growth/index.html

I took my first to well checkups till he turned 2, when he got sick from going

to the doctor! That was it for me. My next baby, a month after that, never

went for a check up, I got real pro-active at home and started really looking

into what they really do at check ups, and we did our own every month for

awhile, had a baby scale and all. Cascade birth supplies has all kinds of

things you could ever need for this.

I used the charts from the kellymom site, and found out that there is two

different charts these days, but even the pediatritians don't offer them. (maybe

some do now....that would be cool) There is a breastfed baby growth chart, and

a formula fed baby growth chart. The site has the breastfed, and maybe still

has the other for comparison, haven't gone there for a long time, so don't quote

me! :)

Many have STOPPED seeing peds as the well baby visits are primarily

to vaccinate (take it from me, a former peds nurse)

And most parents are first to find a problem, not the ped.

Once you decide you don't want vaccines, you also will discover you

won't want much else peds have to offer - meds, meds and more meds.

I totally agree with everything that Mavis has said. Whatever you do

though, do NOT sign that vaccine waiver form that the pediatrician

provides you with. Find a doctor who will not force you to sign it.

If you read it carefully, it states that you are a neglectful parent

for not vaccinating and that you are putting everyone at risk by your

actions. Some parents have had child protective services alerted

when they signed this form - amazing how that is not news worthy,

huh? Not all doctors are making parents sign this - most are though.
