Guest guest
Well, my 21 mo. old infant has been receiving early intervention services 1x per week thanks to his vaccines. The person that normally visits brought along her boss yesterday. After her boss watched my son for an hour she told me that she doesn't want to alarm me, but she also doesn't want me to be taken by surprise with a possible Autism or PDD-NOS diagnosis. (We are currently on a long waiting list to be seen for a comprehensive evaluation). Here I was all along thinking that he could have ended up with Autism (comparing my story to other Moms') if I kept vaccinating because of his reactions at 2, 4, and 6 mo. old (this person totally agreed with me too surprisingly!). But, I now see that he fits a lot of the criteria now - he has slipped further and further behind over the past several months too. The " brief " eye contact, some routines, etc. I feel shocked, angry, sick, and horrified that I was " fooled " by my trusted pediatrician. I even kind of feel like McCarthy in a way because I was even questioning vaccines since the very beginning and not " allowing " all of the new ones! Boy, was I an idiot. McCarthy even asked her doctor if the MMR shot was the " Autism shot! " If anyone believes in the power of prayer, we sure could use some. We see a DAN doctor on Wednesday. As if our finances are not hurting enough as it is (not covered by insurance!). You can't put a price on recovery and that is exactly what I am shooting for. I just thank God that I've been doing what I've been doing for him all along - organic food, gluten free/casein free diet for a month now (big difference!), various supplements, avoiding more toxic environmental exposure, clay baths, etc. It could be a lot worse I believe. I can see why so many parents do not see the " bang " until after 12 mo. old shots too (we stopped at 6 mo. old after his partial seizures and also realized he regressed after his 2 mo. shots). Most parents are working full-time and really don't have the time to see the gradual changes until it is severe. Our baby had a lot of words at 12 mo. old and slowly lost them all. My new sister-in-law from Romania is very scared to be in this country now. She doesn't know many people, but my son will be the 3rd victim of vaccines that she has encountered during her short time here in this country. I'll keep everyone posted on what happens during our doctor's appt.
