Guest guest
Hi guys, I posted not too long back that my 6 year old nephew was having problems in school and that he was becoming more and more physically and mentally slow, in thinking and response time. Well, after many tests, he has been diagnosed with ADD and the doctor says if it gets worse that the only option is to medicate him. My parents have custody of him and they are not the type to believe in dietary changes or any other natural course. Plus, doctor already started to scare them, if they end up not medicating him he wil probably drop out of school and so on. I wish I still lived near them so I could help out the situation. I think many parents are scared into medicating their children just like they are scared into vaccinating. Vida
Guest guest
Hi Vida, Unfortunately, much of the ADD/ADHD condition is related to nutrition and can be helped with changes. I think many parents just don't want to go through the trouble of changing, so they choose the easy route and medicate. Since going on a special diet myself (I'm gluten intolerant), I've been learning more and more about this and I've read numerous almost miracle stories of change - many times simply by eliminating certain foods !! I do hope the parents here do some more research before medicating.. Magda
Guest guest
Hi My husband is writing his thesis on " classroom design for children with learning disablilities " with the focus specifically on ADD and ADHD. He came across a very interesting study by a Professor Anneke Meyer from the Department of Psychology at the University of Limpopo in South Africa. Her study compared ratios of ADHD in third world countries compared to Western countries. Her study suggests that ADHD is caused by the same fundamental neurobiological processes, probably caused by genetic factors expressed independently of cultural differences. The incidence of ADHD among children in the rural areas of the Limpopo Province of South Africa, was similar to those reported in Western countries. I believe vaccinations are the biggest and probably only similarity that children in rural South Africa have with children from Western countries. Diet can certainly aggravate the condition, but I believe this study shows a link to a more sinister cause.
