Guest guest
My son was born 6 weeks early due to my suffering from severe preeclampsia. He was born healthy despite all of it and did not need oxygen at birth. Great Apgar Score too. Because he was premature it is standard now for Easter Seals to come out and assess for any delays. They came out just before his 2 mo. vaccines (did not receive Hep B at birth) and did not even believe that he was early. He was born with open fists (which is not common, but means he was very secure), he was holding his bottle often and he was even smiling when his corrected age was only 2 weeks old! They happily told me that he was very advanced for his age and he didn't qualify for services. One of the evaluators casually mentioned he was slightly low-tone in his legs which I now attribute to the magnesium sulfate that I was given prior to his delivery. Not a big deal. He then received his 2 mo. vaccines (HIB, IPV, and DTaP) at 2 mo. old and he screamed as if in pain off/on for three days along with low- grade fever. I called in a panic and was told this is " normal " . He then had the same reaction with the same vaccines at 4 mo. old along with a strange congestion/wheezing. My Mom urged me to call again. Once again (different nurse), my fears were dismissed. He then received the same vaccines at 6 mo. old - no screaming, but his entire body was twitching from head to toe and his eyes were rolling back into his head about a handful of times in the following weeks. It only happened periodically when I held him to give him his bottle. I then really began researching. I found out that he never should have received neomycin if he was suffering from low-tone (effects of the Magnesium I was given). This ingredient can worsen the condition along with all of the other toxins. I then thought back to when he could no longer nurse - right after his 2 mo. vaccines he lost the ability (it is much harder for them to nurse then take a bottle due to muscle involvement). He also stopped holding his bottle after his 2 mo. vaccines. He was then delayed by a few months (even factoring in his prematurity) rolling over, holding his head up, crawling, sitting, walking, and babbling. He didn't even babble until 10 1/2 mo. old. I kept addressing this with his pediatrician who was not even concerned. However, I still had 2 more comprehensive evals from Easter Seals done at my insistance. A child has to be delayed at least 33% in any one area to qualify. The second eval he was not delayed enough just yet, but by the third he was (at this point he was over a year and a half old). Throughout all of this I noticed that he had difficulty chewing certain things, swallowing from a faster nipple, would clench/grind his teeth, etc. He had more words than his peers though at just 12 mo. old (we stopped vaxing at 6 mo). He gradually, month by month lost them all. I can hear words at times, but his mouth is completely closed and other times he grunts. When walking, he seems to " veer off " to the side like he has balance issues. He sits in a " W " instead of his feet straight out. He was fascinated with fans and would turn his trucks/cars upside down to just play with the wheels. I put him on a gluten free/casein free diet a month ago and he began playing with toys normally, but still has many issues (temper tantrums sometimes result in him banging his head on the floor). He would rather throw rocks into the sewer instead of play with the kids at the park. If I had been working full-time like most moms, I never would have seen it all. I also attribute it to having a teen son and know the difference (the pediatricians have really dumbed down the milestones over the years since the 90's). Easter Seals also has the more accurate milestone chart too. I also believe had I not been following the DAN protocol about diet and removing other toxins, I would be dealing with something far worse than this. Delays are a very good indicator of future problems and unfortunately the pediatricians are not going their job. The schools are also worsening the problem by dumbing down the spec ed tests - already there 5x with my older son. So, with the diet now, certain supplements, clay baths, etc, it seems that he is doing better, but I look back at his 1 yr old birthday video and realize that almost a year has passed and he appears to be on that same level - no progress really and lost all words. Though he surprised me the other day at the grocery store and said " hi " to another child in a cart. Something is working, but I am going the extra mile and getting help from a DAN doctor. My baby just doesn't look healthy to me. At times when I look at him, he looks pasty white with dark shadows under his eyes too. For more info...go to http://vaccinesexposed.blogspot.com I explain the Spec Ed process and the nightmare that I went through in Sept's blog. > > Dear Dawn > > I am so sorry to hear about what you are facing. Guest guest
Dawn, Did you already mention why you got the magnesium sulfate? Sorry if I missed that info.......... > qualify for services. Guest guest
To prevent seizures/strokes from my severe preeclampsia. If I had only known what it was capable of as a side effect, I would have passed on it. > > Dawn, Did you already mention why you got the magnesium sulfate?
