Dear Forum,

I read this rediff article (Promiscuous Jihadis Spreading AIDS in J & K) with a

great deal of skepticism.

I wonder how the " discreet enquiries " and " top defense sources " arrived at the

conclusion that AIDS prevalence is rising because Afghans and Pakistanis are

engaging in homosexual behavior, promiscuous sex, and are exploiting children.

Or perhaps they believe all three to be the same thing. Which, in my opinion, is

discriminatory: conflating homosexuality with pedophilia or sexual promiscuity

is not only dangerous and misguided, but also further stigmatizes the South

Asian homosexual community.

This article seems to be politically/ religiously motivated and has dubious

sources. It almost seems to propose that " Jihadis " are using AIDS as a weapon of

war or terrorism.

I would be interested to see statistical proof or interview data about how the

" top defense sources " know how people became infected with HIV, and how they

know that the people who infected them were Afghanis or Pakistanis.

Dear Forum,

I am very much surprised to read the message that " Jahidies " are spreading the

HIV infection in the valley. I want to ask people that how much they know about

the " jahadies " .

People infected from HIV very well understand the consequences of it. So no one

infected with HIV willingly does so. The hard core terrorist who have firm faith

in Islam and raise the guns and ready to die the next moment never think of

indulgence of immoral sexual behavior.

The people are not having the information of their targets and hide out. I want

to ask them how they can know about the sexual behavior of these people. This is

absolutely rubbish and an attempt to create a kind of bad image among the

masses.

The possible reason for increase in the prevalence rate of HIV / AIDS in J & K

may be because of increase in transporation for fruits and vegetable for the

Delhi and the adjoining areas.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK ABOUT IT.
