My daughter, who was just explanted on May 21st, and I checked out 2 doctors in So. Calif. We first checked out Dr. Chun in Corona del Mar, as he was closest to our home. We came away from his office feeling very down. He was not at all sympathetic to my daughter's problems. He said that it was very unlikely she would improve after an explant and she would be very depressed and unhappy because the results would not be very pleasing esthetically. When we handed him a sheet of my daughter's problems since implant, he quickly scanned it without any comments. He also said that he knew he was on "some internet list," and the way he said it was like he wished he weren't. He said he could do en bloc and would do whatever we wanted. This was not the doctor we were looking for.

We then went to Dr. Lee in San Diego. What a difference! Everyone was so caring. He said that he could not guarantee that my daughter's symptons would improve, but he wasn't the least bit negative and said that everyone's body was different and one could never tell what would happen. When I gave him the list of symptons, he made a copy for his files. I also mentioned, as I had to Dr. Chun, that my daughter had done some intensive acupuncture and detoxing. Dr. Chung ignored it, but Dr. Lee mentioned he had an acupunturist on staff and many patients swore by her. He has had extensive experience with en bloc removals, especially with silicone. We felt very comfortable with him. At her post op appointment, his first comment was to ask how she was feeling and if any of her symptons had diminished. When my daughter told him that she was feeling so much better and that most of her symptons were gone or better, he patted her on the leg and said, "I'm so glad." He was wonderful and we would definitely recommend that you see him before deciding upon a surgeon.
