iron toxicity & Vit.C does not mix...

" While many may carry a gene that could cause the body to absorb much more iron

than is needed, most have no disease consequences. However, for some, two

recessive inherited codes cause the disease to become manifest. The marker is

on Chromosome 6. Inflammation of the small intestine and /or pancreas, from

infection, alcohol, or other diseases may make the body absorb even more iron.

The excess iron stores deposited in the hormone producing cells of the intestine

and pancreas again cause more inflammation and more absorption of iron. In

those who are under siege from iron, taking high dose Vitamin C can make matters

even worse. Vitamin C encourages the absorption of iron. "

I wouldn't know if I had any disease myself because I quit my job over 7 yrs.

ago to take care of my little girl & never had health ins. after that. Just went

to the ER in case I couldn't take anymore when I was sick. Within the last 2

yrs. I started using homeopathy. I can tell you though that my body is messed up

pretty badly though. Jenn L

OK,  sorry, just wondering why you were posting the info about the disease that

causes excessive iron. I have friends with it - 2 are carriers of the genes and

3 have the results of having carrier parents. The men need to go to the hospital

for regular blood-letting. Once the woman hits menopause she will probably have

to do the same. The carriers don't actually " get " the disease.

My point was that if you have the disease, Vit. C supplementation or Vit. C in

general could cause bad problems. I am trying to figure out why my daughter

cannot tolerate Vit. C. Jenn L

Now Sodium Ascorbate powder. 2 small pinches was as much as I can give her &

even then she has very acidic urine, complains about " down there " , I look &

there doesn't seem to be any problem but she's very red. She doen't pee very

often the day of giving it. She drinks well though.

Could it be a problem with the sodium as in sodium ion channels? This is a

problem with Calcium with both of us as well. She craves sodium. Jenn L

I have also tried Ester C, can't remember what brand but it was like 30-50mg

once a day but that was much worse.

My sides hurt really bad too when I have acidic urine from the Vit. C. Not sure

if my daughter's does.

My sides hurt most of the time though- ever since I had a bad infx. when I was a

teenager (2 weeks after the mmr booster actually just to be able to play school

sports. My asthma kicked in at that time too.) I woke in the ER getting

high-dose IV antibiotics after the bad kidney infx. Jenn L

What happens if she eats a half of fresh grapefruit or some broccoli or kale or

an orange?

Does she get the same bad reaction? What about if you squeeze a tiny bit of

fresh lemon

juice into her daily water? Can her system tolerate that? -Arlynn

She won't go near any of those foods. If I had to make her eat it, her urine

would be very strong & she would complain about " down there " hurting. She also

has lower urine output for that whole day. It hard to guess what could be the

problem. There are so many foods she will not eat. She has food allergies so I'm

unsure about making her eat something he refuses. She sometimes ask for 1/2

lemon to squeeze into her ice chips. Her urine gets very strong but I give her

about 70-80oz of water that day immediately following the lemon & ice, she

bounces back quicker. I have to be very careful with any food that can change

blood presure like garlic or grapefruit. Jenn L

it could be anything.

Homeopathic treatment doesn't try to figure out it all - as it is

pretty impossible to figure out

Homeopathy works with the symptom picture and the remedy used is based on that.
