Guest guest
I looked until I found a vet in my area that does not mandate vaccines. RIght now, I have 2 vets- one I worked for as a teen who's 1 mile from my home who argues with me constantly but realizes I won't change, and another, 45 minutes away, who admits that she isn't fond of vaccines and never talks to me about them. I'd ask/look around. There's usually a holistic vet or 2 in the phone book. There's bound to be one near you who doesn't mandate. I have 15 pets, and none of them is vaccinated. Though it's rare for us to make a trip to the vet, I like to have more than one option. Guest guest
First I would shoot the neighbors cat. Just kidding. I would shoot the neighbor.Second kidding. Actually when I was a kid I had a few dogs and cats. My mom never took any of them to a vet or us kids to a doctor, which it turned out was a good thing. So they received no shots and no poisons. In fact I don't remember any of my friends talking about taking their animals to a vet. We didn't have money, and luckily we weren't educated out of our common sense. One time my Irish setter was sick. He laid down in the grass for two or three days. My mom told me to give him water and love, and he would be fine, which he was. I asked my mom about giving him food. I remember her saying, when a body is hungry you feed it. She than took some food out to the dog and he wouldn't touch it. I got the message loud and clear. Now as for today I will be getting another dog in a year or so, and it will not be injected with any poisons. In fact I will get a dog book that talks about natural food. I can't believe there are actually people today who routinely take a dog to the vet and let the vet give the dog drugs. But I guess if a person takes them their self they would reason an animal should to. I always wonder how the wild animals survive with out drugs. Maybe the germs don't like it in the wild. I have never taken a dog to a vet and unless it needs to be repaired from an auto accident I see no reason to go. So do whatever you need to do to follow your heart. How do I get around the pets part? I had to get worm medication for my one cat, and was told, " we haven't seen her for over a year, we can't put up meds for her, until we give her her....she named off three shots....and I said, I can't afford that! That is robbery, but they hide behind, " we don't want to infect all the other animals in the hospital " And they won't " fix " them without the shots, they flat out refuse to do it! It's frustrating, I have a neighbor who's cat comes to our house to attack our cats on our porch, and had to go to the vet a couple of times now and this is what I am getting! Jim, what would you do? Guest guest
Although I'm in the UK so it's not a problem, I know many people in USA who don't chemically worm or vaccinate. Try to find a Homeopathic and/or Holistic Vet who will share your concerns. Can you not buy worm stuff in a pet store or online? I know with dogs, grated carrot added to food does the job if they actually have worms, as does garlic as a preventative. That's what I use. I didn't think you had to vax before getting the heartworm medication - you just had to have an exam done. Isnt't that stuff OTC now anyway? I quit giving my dog both the flea and worm medications - too many chemicals. I have also quit taking her to the vet - she hasn't been in 6 plus years. I'm careful she doesn't get out of the backyard and she's never off-leash. I do know of a friendly vet who will sign a rabies waiver w/o doing shots - you can also check titers. Guest guest
Keep looking around for other vets. I found a vet that was cheap for the spay and they wanted to shoot up the cat and I said, no I'm not going to give her vaccines while she's doing major surgery. We'll take care of that at her regular vet when she's recovered.-and of course I never took her for that either but did get her spayed. She's never had a shot of anything. Very healthy kitty cat, despite the crap food I feed her! I almost never take my pets to the vet. They're healthy. I don't take my well kids to the doctor, why would I take my well pets to the doctor? Yeah, for the " well pet visit " --I kid you not!-that is what they call it. vaccines. It's all about vaccines. The pet world has acknowledged there IS vaccinosis but still push them. the human world has yet to even acknowledge it exists. Disgusting! Guest guest
I would catch the cat that keeps coming to fight and put him up for adoption. :-P That should fix the problem right there. If the animal is continually on my property, the animal is mine by 9/10'ths of the law. :-D
Guest guest
Just a note that in NY we are required by law to license our dogs and in order to get the license we have to show veterinarian proof of rabies vaccine. I do the rabies vax every 3rd year (to avoid having our dog impounded). But I never give anything else to her. -Arlynn
Guest guest
We had several dogs growing up, all were super healthy and lived to a ripe old age (none were vaccinated). As an adult, I had a wonderful lab mix that I was able to take for all vet appointments and vaccinate (thought I was being a responsible pet owner) and he died at 8 from liver failure! We now have 3 happy healthy pets, they get a rabies shot (every 3 yrs in NY) and that's it! There will be no other vax and they are healthy and we may breed our newfie and advertise any puppies as non-vax and healthy and target that market for a change! > > First I would shoot the neighbors cat.
