Guest guest
There is no law requiring the vitamin K shot. There is only a law in NY state (and only THERE) for the vitamin K shot and eye goop after birth (if you decline, they call CPS). The only way to dodge the bullet in NY state is a homebirth with a birth attendant who is willing to falsify records... Or a unassisted homebirth, then drive to NJ/CT for the first baby exam cause they don't require it. But if you give birth in a hospital/birth center in NY state, there is no way ever to avoid it, unfortunately. Pretty horrible! All other states just require the birth attendants to offer the vitamin K shot, however you are more than free to decline. We declined it, signed a piece of paper stating we don't want it and know blablabla there can be bleedings.
