Guest guest
can't recall anyone in my childhood, bn 1953, who had asthma or anything really, gave measles to my school of 100 kids and we all had few days slacking in sickbay. Now it is inhalers all over the place and every village has a child with autism or aspergers. i was into natural healing seeing an ND when my last son was due and he sold me Walene book, that was enough. Guest guest
That was a great thing to do! I also cut my no vax teeth on Mothering Mag some 24 years ago when I got my hands on the first one while pregnant with my first. It changed our lives and set me on a path that I have been grateful for. I have never been the perfect " natural " mom but I have used what I could and did my best. It is and always has been an awesome publication and I have given them as part of baby shower gifts too. I still have those old editions in a box somewhere cuz I just cannot part with them and plan on lending them to my daughters when they start exploring that stuff more. And since we are talking about " Mothering " . Just want to make sure that everyone is aware of their online forums where you can get lots of info and make friends with other moms in the " Find your Tribe " , Here's the Mag _Mothering Magazine - The Magazine of Natural Family Living_ (http://mothering.com/) Here's the Forum _MotheringDotCommunity Forums - Powered by vBulletin_ (http://www.mothering.com/discussions/) Mavis " If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as the souls who live under tyranny. Guest guest
I'm on another group that is for kinda crunchy AP parents and when I joined my son was baout 5 months old maybe 6 months. ANyway, a few topics of discussion brought up vaccination and how some of the moms/families on there don't vaccinate. I was intrigued as to why. Being a new mom and not knowing much until AFTER my son was born - AP style of parenting, gentle discipline, the truth about circ, extended nursing, etc I was curious to find out what was so great about not vaxxing or why vaccines warranted being skipped. I started doing research as to what was in them first, I was grossed out and became uneasy about all of it, but not enought to stop vaxxing. I was a good little sheepie until my son was 15 months old and I decided enough was enough. I decided to learn how to delay the schedule - becasue I was still uneasy about stopping altogether and DH wasn't on board - and would pick up where my son left off with the vaccines when I had learned more. So basically I decided I was going to do them, but wait to continue until after learning how to properly space them. Then I found this group, while I was pregnant with my DD no less and learned very valuable information. So before my son was even two and well before my baby was born I decided NO VACCINES anymore. It was hard to convince DH that vaccines were harful, but I played the emotions card on him and showed him what all the military had put in him - asking " Do you really think that the government has our children's best interest and health in mind? Do you want the government to tell you how to care for YOUR kids? Do you want to risk having our kids end up like your brother? (brain damaged from malnourishment due to pyloric stenosis going undiagnosed for two months - not the greatest comparison but he didn't want to risk his kids being brain damaged by something we allowed to be put in them) We had our baby at home and then to reinforce my decision to NOT vaccinate I picked up a few books that came highly recommended (Neil Z ) and became so sickend by what I learned that I could only read the book in small doses before I wanted to go throw up. My daughter is now 9.5 months old and vax free. My son is 2yrs9.5 months and was discontinued on any vaccine schedule after receiving his last one at 15 months old. There are several things about being a mom that I have learned a bit late, but it is better late than never! DH is on board to and eve sticks up for me when his old school RN grandma tries to spew some crap about vaccines. I guess some of the things I tell him DO get retained!! Guest guest
I never really thought too much about vaccines prior to the birth of our daughter. I was given a tetanus vaccine back in 1992 before I knew any better and thankfully suffered no obvious damage from it. I started training in alternative medicine around 1994, and became more aware that vaccines were a contentious subject. Many I trained with had strong views against. I became pregnant for the first time in 1994, but miscarried, then the same again in early 1995. After a third miscarriage in late 1995, I stared looking for *answers* and discovered " What Doctors Don't Tell You " (www.wddty.com). I started taking their newsletters and read all I could about the *other side* of medicine in all areas, but it was reading Every Woman's Birthrights " by Pat that made me start wanting to learn more about vaccinations in particular. Her book opened my eyes to the futility of so many pregnancy procedures, and made me wonder what other *accepted wisdom* the medical profession sold us that was dangerous. I then got hold of a copy of " The Vaccination Bible " , published by WDDTY, and started learning about the reality of vaccines, what was in them, how they were made and the lies that the medical profession pushed to encourage naive parents to use them in their precious babies. By the time I made it successfully to term with my daughter, now 11 and completely unvaxed, I knew beyond doubt she would never receive a vaccine as long as I had the breath in my body to prevent it. I informed my GP before her birth that he needn't bother making us appointments for vaccines as we weren't going to have them. When the surgery did send us appointments for her baby vaccines, we ignored them and tore them up. We've had little trouble along the way - vaccination in the UK and Australia, where we now live, is voluntary and everyone who has ever questioned our dd's status has been looked squarely in the eye and informed that it's not an issue because we don't subscribe to the barbaric medical practice of vaccination. I think they get the message very quickly! My daughter, bless her, has been well indoctrinated and has vowed to never have any vaccines - her philosophy is that vaccines destroy children's lives She asks lots of questions and I sincerely believe she understands the danger, even if only on a simple level as yet. Sue x -- Question for moms For all the moms in the group, I was wondering how you come to know the truth about vaccines. I myself found out right before my daughter turned 2 (she had all her vaccines until then...so angry and sickened by that) I was one of those people who never questioned it because I was brainwashed to think it is normal and a good thing for chilldren/adults.And thought whatever doctors do it right. Then one day, (the same day my mom took her for her shots right before turning 2) I researched it online and WOW, talk about angry and disgusted! I was also angry at myself for not researching it before. I used to research just about everything online while I was pregnant. But at least its better late then never. I kept praying that none of this poison affects my daughter in any way and also prayed for other helpless children. I did talk to many moms about it, but it seems like most people just dont believe it. Sad. Most people I met didnt know the truth so its good to know that are so many moms here that do know. I would just like to know how you all found out. Sabina ************** One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Mail. Try it now. Guest guest
And along those lines, adults who receive vaccinations fail to see the connection between autoimmune disease and vaccines as well…my MIL began traveling abroad about 5 or 6 years ago, to a variety of countries and regions; and of course, is more than happy to receive all the recommended vaccines for travel to those regions – since then, she now has chronic asthma, for which she takes a prescription each and every day, and is plagued with Fibromyalgia. And again, fails to see the connection…she also has chronic UTI’s, and I’m sure there is a connection there as well! Some people have their blinders up, and no matter how much you talk to them, they will never get it. Trust me, I live amongst such people! Guest guest
While I am not a parent, I feel the vaccine issue is something that we all should be concerned about. Please don't take this the wrong way but there are many people who seem to think this is a " mom " only issue and because of that I have had the worst time getting my anti vaccine film done. Some of the emails I get from people are shocking! I got one just before I replied to this post demanding to know what my motives were and why I was so concerned about vaccines. I guess it never crossed this person's mind that I was poisoned as a child and spent many years quite ill, I was never sick sick but i had no energy, and I never got truly sick I think my body was chronically ill and suppressed symptoms. When I was in my 20's I had the Hep B vaccine and got deathly ill, before that I simply thought a " shot was a shot " and that you should trust your Dr and do as told. BOY WAS I WRONG! I just wish I did not have to learn the truth the hard way. Re: Re: Question for moms Hi Katarina Just to name two common problems associated with vaccines. Guest guest
There's nothing like questioning vaccines that brings out the snarliness in otherwise normal folks. And while it's not just a mom issue, parents are targeted more often for giving their kids vaccines because they will generally comply with whatever the peds recommend (that, and the threat of school expulsion). Look at the Hep. B vaccine. It was never meant for children. It was never tested on children (as if it would " pass " anyway!). It was marketed for them purely because the " at risk " groups were refusing it and the companies needed new victims who wouldn't fight them. But you're right, especially these days. This is everyone's problem now. Winnie Re: Re: Question for moms Vaccinations > While I am not a parent, I feel the vaccine issue is something > that we > all should be concerned about. Guest guest
> > For all the moms in the group, I was wondering how you come to know the > truth > about vaccines. I'm really enjoying learning about everyone's stories. For me, I was 32 when we had our first child, so being a little older, I had more time to research ; ). I originally started hearing about links to autism and the MMR in the mainstream media. Of course, they always shrugged off this link, but it was enough for me that it was a red flag. I knew that when the time came to have kids, I would need to research it further. When I was pregnant with our first child, I took a holistic birth class because I wanted the pregnancy and birth to be as natural as possible. Luckily, they touched on vaccines in that class and gave me a direction to go in as far as research. I read Neil s books and the Barbara Loe Fisher book " A shot in the dark " . I asked a lot of health care professionals their opinions, and the nurses and docs I knew all said the same thing... " the benefit is worth the risk " . It was like a hypnotic chant that I think they must all be taught in med school! Also, they are acknowledging there IS a risk! I don't want my child being the one who is sacrificed for the " greater good " ! Luckily, I had a great chiropractor who was also an influence on us with our decision not to vaccinate. Sometimes it helps to have someone to support what you already know in your heart is right. I am so grateful that I learned about vaccine dangers before I had kids! My two are now 3 and 16 months and are so healthy! Never an ear infection, no antibiotics ever, only a few minor colds and my daughter had 1 fever that ended up at 103.5 for a day. They are almost too healthy! I know there is a lot of thought regarding illness and milestone development, so sometimes I almost wish they would get something (minor) to overcome! Thanks everyone for your stories! --
Guest guest
When I began to change my diet to more natural and had eventually decided to go with a homebirth. The community I had gotten in touch with (with cloth-diapering, homebirthing, breastfeeding, etc) was questioning vaccines, so I decided to do my own research. I had already decided not to vax my dog - it became even more important to learn about human vaccines. I have always thought that vaccines only contained the virus - boy, did I learn otherwise. I " delayed " vaccines until my son was 1 and by then I had learned all I needed to know. is now almost 4.5 and he's never been vaxxed. I never thought about donating it to the library. Good idea! On Fri, Dec 19, 2008 at 10:49 AM, <wharrison@...> wrote: > What a terrific idea! Guest guest
Isn't this the truth. I had a friend come by the other day. We were talking about something that was believed to be safe but wasn't, and he said " like our vaccines. "  I was suprised he mentioned them and decided to tell him I agreed and that we didn't vaccinate. He looked shocked and said " you have to vaccinate " ! I'm thinking, you just said you don't believe they're safe. It was the fastest " jekyll/hyde I have ever seen. He then told me that there are cases of wild polio in the next town over from us brought here by the illegal mexicans (we're in south Florida). And I'm the silly one for not vaccinating. <<There's nothing like questioning vaccines that brings out the snarliness in otherwise normal folks. >> Recent Activity *  10 New MembersVisit Your Group Health Memory Loss Are you at risk for Alzheimers? Guest guest
Next time say " and how is vaccinating for Hep. B., Hep. A, diptheria, pertussis, tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, pneumonia, Hib, chicken pox, rotavirus, flu and meningitis going to protect against polio? Guest guest
Hi Sabina I could have written the exact same post...word for word. I too researched so much when I was pregnant but not a word about vaccines. I knew everything about pregnancy, labor, delivery but nada about vaccination. I know how much you must be hurting inside because you did not research this earlier. I started reading about vaccines around the time she was due for MMR and was disgusted with what I learnt. Since then we have stopped vaccinating and now I feel incredibly relieved and guilt-free. I too pray that her little body does not get any long-term side effects due to the obnoxious vaccines and now I try to take care of what I put in her body. Good luck to you too. Guest guest
This is probably an old subject, because I saw the subject before, but never the " original " one. With me, it was a gut feeling even before I had kids, I almost got let go from a job because I refused to get one they said I HAD to have, and never got flu shots, I just didn't think they were a bad thing. I didn't have my sons til I was 40 and second at 43, but was bullied into having my first one done even though I knew it was wrong. Then I joined NVIC (?) and then this group an got information, read Mendelssohn's books, other books and made my decision and stopped all shots. Had my second son and he has had none, not any kind of needle in him. I felt guilty I had my first son done, but when you have just given birth and all the hormones are going crazy, you get intimidated by the dr's saying you will be in neglect if you don't vaccinate and the pre-k schools saying your son is out unless he has this shot. After I found I did not have to, I got mad, made my exemption letter and went from there, and never let any one intimidate me again! I got them into another pre-school, into their present school, my kids were the first ones in with no shots, now other families are there. So....15 years later, I am still saying YES when asked in the ER if they are up to date on their shots, because as far as I am concerned, they ARE up to date on their shots, because no shots are up to date for me! the school has accepted me and the dr's office is fine with it, and next will be colleges, but you know, I am ready to take them on too.... If you are here, you are learning, keep learning and break away..... I myself found out right before my daughter turned 2 (she had all her vaccines until then...so angry and sickened by that) I was one of those people who never questioned it because I was brainwashed to think it is normal and a good thing for chilldren/adults. And thought whatever doctors do it right. Sabina ************ ** One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Mail. Try it now.
