Guest guest
Why do you think some plastic surgeons don't want to be a part of an insurance plan? Nowadays, you would think the dr.'s that everyone says wants to help all of us -- would reach out and try to cooperate. Dr. Feng does not cooperate - why? Does anyone have any idea? Guest guest
I don't know of many PS that are part of an insurance plan. I guess because most of what they do is " elective surgery " and not covered by insurance?? I'm running into the same problem with Rheumatologists in my area. It's ridiculous! I guess they don't get paid enough from the plans. I've seen my EOB's (explanation of benefits) for the docs that do take insurance - and they have to accept hundreds of dollars less because of it. I think that the docs that are part of a big office with a lot of doctors can do that, but not the ones that are by themselves. It would be so nice if we could find an excellent surgeon who would give reduced rates to women who can't afford to be explanted. Maybe we should send a letter and ask the ones on our list. It couldn't hurt. The worse thing that could happen is being told no! Pam > Why do you think some plastic surgeons don't want to be a part of an > insurance plan? Guest guest
I would call her directly and ask, as I don't think any of us would know why a doc does what they do.Is Dr. Feng affiliated with any hospitals or is she in only private practice? I hope more PS's will take health insurance for illness trauma cases. My PS is both in private practic and affliated with a university hospital where he treats burn victims and truama. He takes insurance for illness/trauma/breast reduction/ deviated nasal septum/cleft palate but the cosmetic stuff is self pay of course.PACCOAST@... wrote: Why do you think some plastic surgeons don't want to be a part of an insurance plan? Guest guest
Re. Dr. Feng's office - my insurance is willing to pay for the entire procedure of explantation but Dr. Feng's office is not cooperating with them. And they are a top insurance company!!! I was pleased to have to covered as I have heard many do not. I understand her office is top of the line - and that's great -- just need the help with insurance........ Guest guest
As far as I know Dr Feng is affiliated with and does surgery (such as one lady I know who had cancer and had the 12 hour operation of reconstruction of her breast with her own tissue called a flap) and that was done at a big hospital. I cannot recall the one though, it is a big hospital in Cleveland. Her surgical facility is state of the art, top of the line everything. I am sure her overhead is outrageous, but she wants a place where her patients will be soothed and relaxed, her waiting room was amazing with waterfalls, and soothing decor. Really nice. Her surgical suite top of the line. Everything was first rate, no corners cut on anything, and it just made me feel so good to be there. She does take insurance and I am not exactly sure where this rumor has gotten started that she does not take insurance. Probably because most of the procedures are not covered by insurance. I know several ladies, including Rose and Jeena from explantation.com who had their explants completely covered by insurance and also a few other ladies I know also from explantation.com that were later reimbursed. Dr Feng does not like the whole insurance racket and I know she has someone in her office to deal with it, she likes to focus on the patient and on the surgery, as she is a surgeon not an insurance person. But I know they did try to bill my insurance and the procedure was not covered. Hope this helps, if someone has more questions about Dr Fengs insurance issues I would really recomend talking to her office. - In , Jane Doe <oceanlilly_csu@y...> wrote: > I would call her directly and ask, as I don't think any of us would know why a doc does what they do.Is Dr. Feng affiliated with any hospitals or is she in only private practice? Guest guest
Have you talked to her office manager ? I am not sure what to tell you as far as this goes, except that I would talk to her staff. Also let them know that your a member of this site and that you were highly recomended by me and others and that Dr Feng would surely be unhappy to hear that her office was not helping patients get approval for insurance issues. I don't know the details of how they do the insurance there, only because my insurance did not cover my explant. I know they tried to bill them, so I am not sure what the issue is with yours. It sounds like you need to talk to whoever it is there that handles this or just talk to . I do know that others on Explantation.com have told me they had to pay upfront and get reimbursed, so maybe that is the way they work. If you want I can get Jeena to email you or vice versa. let me know. Again I think I would call and see what exactly the issue is if they want you to pay upfront and have your insurance reimburse, or what. I have heard of a few Docs that work that way as far as this type of surgery goes. Also insurance will not pay for the lift, that you will have to come up with yourself. let me know if I can do anything to help. - In , PACCOAST@a... wrote: > Re. Guest guest
It's hard to get reinvestment from the insurance if you file it yourself. Ask if the will talk to your insurance company, even if they don't file. Get things in writing PRIOR to surgery so you know you'll be reimbursed. It's been my experience that insurance companies usually pay when docs get involved, when I have been left to file to get reimbursement, it does not always happen, or the amount of reimbursement is much less. Good luck to you. Hang in there! LMPACCOAST@... wrote: Re.
