Winnie Flu Cases Spike 400 Percent In Area Doctors Urge Residents To Get Flu Shots ORLANDO, Fla. -- A health-care center reports that the number of flu cases treated in an area of Central Florida has increased 400 percent in the last week. Centra Care doctors told Local 6 News that the increase has been seen at facilities in Winter Park, Longwood and along Lee Road. " We're early on in the season and it's about to ramp up, so now is the time to get your flu shot, " Tim Hendrix of Centra Care said. " There's still plenty of flu shots out there. There's no shortages this year. The flu shot takes a couple of weeks to take effect, so this is your warning. " Flu symptoms include sore muscles, aches, fever, extreme fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea. Flu season typically lasts until April in Central Florida. Watch Local 6 News for more on this story.
