Guest guest
This so sucks for both of you. :-( I have suffered from migraines for years, tried poisons, I mean meds, didn't work, made them worse actually. Started discovering my triggers - MSG, perfumes (including the ones in fabric softeners), muscle tension, stress, caffeine, there are more but I can't think of them at the moment. She needs to look at everything that goes in her mouth and nose on a daily basis, she will find her triggers. Is the hole in her heart called a PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale)? My 8yo has one of those and I read that migraines can be a side effect. :-( I'm hoping her's will close on it's own. Don't let her name calling get you down, it's really hard to suffer from migraines when it seems no one can help and a lot of people don't believe you even have a real problem. :-( I'm sure she is very frustrated, no excuse though. *hugs* )0(~~~)0(~~~)0( Mom to Brittany, vag 08/31/93, dx'd IDDM 05/28/01; , c/s 06/28/97; Shayna, Inv T c/s 06/01/00, dx'd NCS 12/03/08; Thalea, VBA2C 06/24/07 MC - 04/20/08 Read Thalea's birth story here: http://www.jessicas-haven.com/baby.htm Vaccine free since 1999. Guest guest
This is a tough one, especially when it's someone you cared deeply for. There comes a point though, where we must recognise that people who choose drugs are also autonomous adults who make their own choices, as we would like to be allowed to do (by the mad medicos and politicians). Excuse the religious bit here, but we are told to shake the dust from our sandals and move on, if the truth is not accepted. I believe it is good advice but it can be pretty painful. Even if she were to see the light, she would need very close physical and mental support to withdraw from the drugs. You have done what you can - you have presented the truth and been ridiculed and insulted. Perhaps one day she will realise what a good friendship she spurned. If I was a gambler, I would wager that every one of us has been in this position, and we ALL will be again. We don't want to be forced to vaccinate - they don't want to be forced to obey the laws of health and eat their greens. You have given her the gift of knowledge and planted the seeds for her. If she fails to water the seeds, that is her decision. Tough call. My heart goes out to you and to her in her painful ignorance. Maracuja From: cindylouwho_79 <cindylouwho_79@...> Subject: OT: Migraine Medications Vaccinations Date: Sunday, December 28, 2008, 9:34 PM I'm sorry this is off topic, but I so have to discuss this with someone. My good friend suffers from migraines, in which her migraines became worse about two and half years ago. I don't know why they became worse, but she dropped out of college and was demoted at work because of her migraines. Anyway, she started to research on her own why her migraines became worse, and she entered a medical study to link migraines with a hole in the heart. She takes SEVERAL medications, and had surgery last year to put a splint in her heart. She take alzheimer's medication, anti-seizure medication, beta-blockers, pain killers, anti- depressants, aspirin, and who knows what else. I have confronted her on a few occations and voiced my concerns about her treatments. She thinks that I am the uneducated one because I don't believe in prescription drugs and I don't vaccinate my daughter. I have always suffered from mild tics, and I take several vitamins and supplements, which she says has never been medically proven. I get so hurt when she attacks the way I take care of myself and my daughter. She has a migraine blog, and today she called me a hypocrite, because I take natural supplements without a doctors supervision, while condeming people taking prescription drugs with a doctors supervision. I am so mad, hurt, you name it. All I am trying to do is to wake my friend up. She trusts her doctors with all her heart, and I truly believe with all my heart that I am going to be at my friends funeral very soon. She will not listen to anyone, and goes and insults me because I don't trust the medical community. A part of me wants to keep trying to help her, and the other part of me wants to turn my back on her. I guess we never get it through people's head. Why do I waste my time, and then read about what a hypocrite I am in her blog? Should I let her kill herself? Do any of you just end up turning your back on people? Guest guest
my DDIL uses feverfew successfully for abdominal migraine. She has been BF for nearly 2 years so has avoided toxins like MSG, processed meats, pesticides, poisonous cleaning solutions - can safely use Aubrey's perfume..Has had one migraine in the past 3 years brought on by dehydration. Without feverfew she used to have to be rehydrated in hospital due to uncontrolled vomiting. Feverfew will resolve it within 3 hours, no hospital. Guest guest
If you have already thrown her a life line, it is up to her now to grab hold of it. I know you are only trying to help, but sometimes by pushing too hard you just push people away, or make them push back even harder. Feverfew will resolve it within 3 hours, no hospital. That's wonderful that she found something that works for her. I've considered it, but I have them so rarely that I don't feel that any outside help is really necessary. Guest guest
It's very frustrating. My cynical viewpoint is that these people like to be sick and on drugs. There really is nothing you can say to them. You're dealing with a martyr. As with any friendship, if it brings you happiness pursue it. If not, write it off (easy to say, hard to do, I know). I would try to get a truce going first, and say look, we can't agree on this so let's not discuss it any more. Guest guest
That's fantastic! Good for you! It's so affirming to hear of people who have sorted most of their health problems without the use of poisonous drugs, which often lead to more drugs to treat the side effects! Guest guest
Sometimes you have to either walk away or decide not to discuss certain subjects. Usually easier to walk away especially if she's insulting you - that's not what a friend does. She has her path, you have yours...
