GBS & Ultrasound

Not sure if this fits in here, but I'm due in 2-3 weeks and tested

positive for GBS. I plan to only have the first round of antibiotics

(midwife thinks I'll only have time for one anyhow), but if I only get

one round they'll want to test the baby for GBS. I feel the same about

any needle entering my baby's body as a vaccine. I can't find an

alternative way for them to test the baby. Does anyone have any

suggestions or knowledge? I have really been stressing myself out over

this.

Also, the baby showed a very, very mild problem with the tube between

the urethra and kidney (don't have the correct terms right now). They

want to either do an ultrasound now, or have one done on the baby after

birth. Which is the least worst? I'm not sure I can or want to not do

either.

First, let me remind you - it is your baby and your body you are

talking about here. You have the right to refuse any treatment or

testing. They may fight you about it and make it very ugly, but you

do have that right.

That said - Will they test you again for GBS before you go into labor?

I've heard of some cases where they will if the mom really wants to

avoid the ABX. Can you insist that they test you again at 39 wks or

40 even? Another list that I'm on has suggested remedies, I'll look

them up for you if you want.

As far as the tube between the baby's kidney and urethra - I would

think waiting until he or she is born for another ultrasound would be

better and more accurate than having another one now. They can't fix

it until the baby is born anyways. Also, I would think the u/s after

he or she is born would be less exposure in general.

Many on this list have shared lots of info in the past on this - how

to use natural products to turn you around and make test negative.

Antibiotics will affect your fetus

And I have treated and know autistic children who had antibiotics

while in utero and at delivery and post-delivery via mom.
