Guest guest
Just as so many of you here, I have steadfastly refused to vaccinate my soon to be one year old daughter. And like so many of you here, I had to stand up to my husband, relatives, friends, colleagues, pediatrician.... Shelby was born last january 2nd, and never had a cold until she entered daycars this past September (no surprise)..I gave her watered down Emergen-C for a while and she was fine...And yes, everyone always comments on how healthy and happy and intelligent she is... Flash forward to last week...I pick her up at daycare and there are red circles under her eyes....then again the next day..I found out after 3 days of red circles that the daycare provider has decided to paint her basement playroom! Sand and paint! In the middle of a NY winter!!!! She was keeping the kids (my baby and her 5 and 2 year old) upstairs. Fumes rise. (Also the 5 year old had his flushot the week before..and had stayed home the next day...) Shelby develops a dry cough...I suspect the paint and am glad the holidays are coming so I can keep her home....By this past Satm, her nose was running...ALOT...then by Sunday, she had 103 fever!!! This is her first fever....I read all that Dr mendelson and others had said about fever....I had a house full of people badgering me to get her tylenol/motrin SOMETHINg to bring the fever down...I caved..she was sooooo hot.....She stayed sick Monday...by Tuesday I brought her to doc..doc said it was a cold..a bad cold...what a relief!!! Baby played and ate and seemed better...started coughing again in the night...HERE " s THE PART FOR THIS GROUP- Doc calls me this morning and says that when she sent us home- SHE FORGOT THE BABT WAS NON-VAXED= SO I NEED TO BRING HER BACK FOR MORE TESTS!!!!! WHAT????? Sure enough...a blood count...(14,0000) and a chest x-ray show she has pneumonia.....Yes, I put her on amoxicillin.....and am avoiding the fever reducer...but basically, please, please, I'm so very scared. She's not even a year old, please, if anyone's been thru pneumonia I would appreciate any advice or comfort you could give on these special days. And no, I'm not swayed and will still refuse vaccines. (if anything I regret caving in to pressure and giving her the Motrin, had I not done so, maybe her body would've fought off the intial virus...oh-PS_ the babysitters kids are all SICk with respiratory issues!!!! THANKS AGAIN FOR ANY HELP. Peace. yvette
