He does surgery at Medical City, the top rated hospital in Dallas. I live about 1.5 to 2 hours from there. There are hotels nearby with kitchens and shuttle service to and from the hospital. Guest guest
Jade, Hi! I have plans to have my explant & lift done by Dr. Melmed soon. I will be flying to Texas from New York. Can you recomend a VERY NICE hotel that is close (I need a kitchen in the room)? I want to stay at a " luxery " hotel, I deserve it!! Also, I can't find your pics. Are your scars around your nipple? How long was the surgery? Crystal --- In , " jadebreaks " <jadebreaks@u...> wrote: > Hi all, > > Dr. Melmed did my explant and an internal lift last Wednesday, May > 12th. Janet in Dr. Melmed's office should know the name and number. I don't know about any hotels there because I drove back and forth, which I DO NOT RECOMMEND! The surgery is very easy. I had almost no pain. He takes the drains out the next day and, after they are out, I didn't even need tylenol. It doesn't hurt when the drains come out--just kind of creepy. I had surgery on Wednesday and went back to work on Monday. My breasts are beautiful! He will take the steri strips off my nipples tomorrow. My scars are over each nipple. They are surprisingly small. I think the surgery took less than 2 hours but I'm not sure because I was asleep. I can tell you that it was the BEST care I have ever recieved at any hospital. The nurses are amazing and Dr. Melmed is a sweetie. My surgery was a little delayed so he came and sat by my bed and told me stories. That helped my anxiety a lot. It was comforting to know that he had preformed surgery on several nurses there. I haven't been able to get my picture to the list owners yet for them to post. I can send you one if you email me. jadebreaks at ureach dot com Jade
Guest guest
That is so great! I cant wait to see the pics. It is always good to hear that explant outcomes come out a positive experince. I am so happy for you and your experince with Dr Melmed. Mine also went wonderful, and realy a breath of relief when it was all over, and I went home to fluff! Isnt it nice, that is all went smoothly and is over? Without the help from this site, I know I would have gotten them out the wrong way, and been displeased with the results..thank god we have the avenues to find the best PS's and get it done right! Take it easy, and let your body start healin' P.S.I looked even better about 2 months post explant, when all your tissue regenerates and fluffs up! Just wait! Sending you hugs! God bless... Guest guest
I have heard that some surgeons are charging a lot more than $6,000!!! Some as much as $11,000 for an explant and lift. Sounds like you got a good deal with that Dr. Melmed. Has anyone else paid that or more???

I got my before picture today and will probably put it up sometime soon. When you see it, you won't believe I could EVER look this good now. Notice that one nipple is several INCHES lower than the other one. Jade

He only recommends a lift if you REALLY need it. I know several women who didn't get lifts and look great and several who did get lifts and they also look great. I think my lift was more involved than most because...well just look at my before picture. For explant he charged me $4,500 and $2,000 for the lift and that included the hospital charges and everything. My insurance is covering, at least, part of the explant so I just had to come up with the lift money. Jade

He has done over 800 explant surgeries and he does the internal lift so you don't have all the scars. He also speaks to the FDA and medical associations against silicone breast implants. There are many plastic surgeons who are angry with him for his stance against implants. AND he doesn't try to push unnecessary procedures on you. Guest guest
An internal lift, if needed. says most women do not need a lift if they can be done internally. Some women will need a lift, and that is about $2000 more. Guest guest
I paid more than that but I made the choice to go to my surgeon and felt very happy with my choice. It really is a personal decision. Dr Feng has tons of experience and with my severely deformed breasts I felt I needed what she had to offer. I paid $10,000 for my procedure and for my peace of mind. I also feel I got really great results so I am happy with my choice. - In , PACCOAST@a... wrote: > I have heard that some surgeons are charging a lot more than $6,000!!! Guest guest
I know mine only cost around $11,000 because my surgery was over 6 and 1/2 hours. It was only gonna be less then half that for the 2-4 hour usually explant. Dr kolb had believed minewould be thr usual, at around 2-3 hours tops. My insurance covered the whole thing though, so all I had to pay for was the lift, (that I was refunded 1/2 on) as it took so little time. She could have charged me the whole thing for the lift, how would I have known that the lift only took an hour, and the rest was over 5? So her honesty was greatly appreciated. Due to the way my skin was , how my breasts are natually more to the side than cleavage wise, and the fact that my implants being only a size bigger than I was, she was able to do a lift through the origanal incision under the crease, and pull me up you could say. Its hard to explain. I did need a lift, as she took pics of me in sugery sitting up without one to prove I needed a lift. (we discussed this prior to explant) Yuck!My skin was all saggy, and dimpled, and all hanging. I was her first with that lift, I think she has done 2 more. I guess it all has to do with, how big you went, and how you "hang". She said it was one of the most expensive surgeries. and couldnt believe how bad a smooth saline removal went .Usually the slicone, or textured are her worst. I was also told that by two other of our well known plastic surgeons, as well, so it isnt just her belief. I shocked her on that element. So much for being the safer one in my case. julie >From: PACCOAST@... >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Re: Just had explant surgery >Date: Fri, 21 May 2004 22:14:51 EDT > >I have heard that some surgeons are charging a lot more than $6,000!!! Guest guest
> I made the choice to go to my surgeon and > felt very happy with my choice. You are so right ! It's worth the peace of mind and safety to go to a highly skilled surgeon with lots of experience doing explants! I am a single mother living way out in the sticks on a broken down farm where a ton of physical work is required, no way to make a reasonable living and NO support system. I worked hard to find a job with insurance. I sold some of my most precious possessions. We went without EVERYTHING but the very necessities (you would be surprised what you can live without). It took careful planning, discipline and a long time but I was finally able to get my surgery. I am thrilled with the results, I feel great and I am looking forward to my future! I don't think you can put a price tag on that! Jade
Guest guest
That is right Jade. My surgery was complicated, it took 6 hours and tons of people, like 4 people pulling to get my embedded textured implants out of me. I just cannot imagine any Dr doing all that work, so I chose Feng for those reasons, I mean it was a big long complicated mess and with textured implants it is so hard to get all that stuff out, so I went with my heart and the money was all secondary. Besides that I had a strong desire to have a female PS and I just felt better about it. Money was the least of my issues when it came to what I would look and feel like years from now. thanks for your thoughts, In , " jadebreaks " <jadebreaks@u...> wrote: > > > I made the choice to go to my surgeon and > > felt very happy with my choice. > > You are so right !
