Subject: Hair issues

At work we do gastric bypasses allot and the patients come to the

floor I work on. We have 2 girls that I am good friends with on our

unit, one is another secretary like me, and one a nurse and they both

had the gastric bypass done. One has already lost 70 pounds, but she

has also lost more than half of her thick beautiful hair as well. I

was talking to the Dr who does the surgeries and he said that it is a

combination of the lack of nutrients they are getting(malnutrition

basically) and also a problem with a lack of protein metabilzation.

In other words this could be something that is going on with some of

the girls here that have normal thyroids. It could be a problem with

protein not being absorbed.

I am not sure how to check that out or what to do about it but I

would eat as much protien as you can choke down. Problem is though if

your not absorbing it then it may not matter anyhow.

wish I had some more ideas but this one is something i thought worth

posting.

That is an interesting point. I wonder how we would know if we're metabolizing protein? Would an albumin blood test tell us? I'm going to ask my doc. That is food for thought--literally!naturalbeauty38 <naturalbeauty38@...> wrote:
