Guest guest
I have found that most plastic surgeons help with insurance, take insurance, and wait for payment from insurance. This is quite new to me that someone does not. I would insist that they do the paperwork so you can at least be reimbursed. After all, you are the customer, and they are there to serve you. I just do not understand the attitude about insurance. Should they all not be trying to help us in any way they can? Guest guest
I believe that most do, and from what I know about Feng she does as well. I am sure that there is some confusion in the information being diseminated somewhere along the line, which is why I am trying to contact several other patients of hers that I know had insurance pay for their explant. Unfortunately if you had the implants put in for cosmetic purproses most PS's including Dr Feng, Dr Huang and Dr Kolb will want cash. I know several who have been to all of the above and paid cash dollars for their procedures. that is the way it is when you have cosmetic surgery. It is particularly hard to get approval to remove saline implants. - > insurance, and wait for payment from insurance. This is quite new to me > that someone does not. Guest guest
If you have complications from cosmetic surgery, many ins. companies will have to pay in the long run. There are some who will not. But there is a great difference in price, but not quality of care. Dr. Kolb is less than Feng and Dr. Huang is less than both. I think it is a function of location. If you have implants removed in NYC, it can cost $15,000. Same is true in Beverly Hills. I am not sure why Denver is the least amount, because the cost of living is as high here as Cleveland or Atlanta. It is harder to get ins. to pay for saline, but if you can get 2 doctors to write letters saying it is a medical necessity to have them removed, that is your best bet to get them paid for. If they are painful, hard, ruptured, etc. that constitutes medical necessity. If they have moved up under the armpits or something like that, that probably is not a medical necessity. You would have to ask. Most plastic surgeons who do this often know what constitutes medical necessity. Guest guest
I know this was to be the case around a year and a half ago-, even though my ins covered a large % of Dr Feng- I would have to pay all money up front. I decided to go to Dr Kolb, for other reasons as well, and all I paid up front for was my 1/2 of my lift, the rest was billed to insurance. Are there other docs that want to paid up front for the entirity? >From: Lynda <coss@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Feng Patient >Date: Fri, 28 May 2004 11:50:14 -0600 > >I have found that most plastic surgeons help with insurance, take >insurance, and wait for payment from insurance. Guest guest
other doctors also charge $1500.00 non refundable deposit as well!!!! That to me was wrong. Guest guest
Yes , my implanting plastic surgeon required $3,000 up front, this is very common among plastic surgeons. Esp if they are extremely good, busy and in an area where their clients have tons of money. Ca most PS's I consulted with wanted money up front. - , " JOSEPH PALANCA " <juliejp61@m...> wrote: >
Guest guest
Sorry Lynda but that just isn't the case trust me I went through this only 4 or 5 years ago and almost every ps I consulted wanted money up front. It is elective surgery. This was in Ca but even here in Idaho I have talked to surgeons and they all want money up front. If people are getting saline implants covered they have to have something concrete or a Dr willing to make up things and Feng I guess just isn't willing to do that. She was willing to tell my ins that I was sick from the implants, but they did not approve that. I had no CC and no other complications that would be considered medically necesary. believe me, I work in the field, I know allot of PS's and they almost all want money up front. It really does not do any good to argue this issue because the fact is that either way, it is a personal decision as to whom one choses and why, and for some of us, in my case, paying Feng only $1,000 up front was not a big deal, it ensured my spot and kept me from getting weak and backing out. Compared to my implanting PS that was peanuts. For others if they cannot afford that fee then there are plenty of PS's as you say that they can go to. so it seems that the problem is apparently solved. I felt and still feel that I made the best choice for me, and that is good enough for me. If others don't want to deal with up front money then i guess they go to the PS's that you say don't require any up front payment. That really is awesome as long as they are good and do what they need to and the results are excellent. Then everyone can be happy. I feel I paid for a service that was beyond excellent and i also feel i got what I paid for and have NO REGRETS. that was the most important thing to me. Everyone has their own feelings, priorities etc. take care In , Lynda <coss@p...> wrote: > Truly, most do not expect to be paid up front. > > Lynda > > > At 03:19 PM 5/28/2004, you wrote: > > >I know this was to be the case around a year and a half ago-, even though > >my ins covered a large % of Dr Feng- I would have to pay all money up > >front. Guest guest
No, I have had a number of women get coverage for removing saline implants. I have been doing this since 1991, and I DO know what I am talking about. And many, many plastic surgeons will work with insurance. I have had many good experiences with women I have referred. In fact, Dr. Feng used to be one who did work with insurance. I was totally surprised that she doe not do this any longer. If ins. does not cover, then all the more reason to refer women to plastic surgeons who are excellent and charge less. Guest guest
I agree. Feng's a good surgeon, but she should not do this, it's beneath her. Her skill will attract people so I don't see the use high pressure here. What if you change your mind a week or few days before for personal or health reasons? I think this is bad business and her patients who are her friends should let her know this so she can correct this. They probably do this (I'm guessing) so peeps won't flake out at the last moment but it's not good business and furthermore, plastic surgery--elective surgery should NEVER be about pressure, one should be able to change their mind. Just my two cents. No offense to Dr. Feng personally. LMjadebreaks <jadebreaks@...> wrote: > other doctors also charge $1500.00 non refundable deposit as well!!!! That to me was wrong. Guest guest
Insurance does not cover explant for cosmetic reasons--ever. jadebreaks <jadebreaks@...> wrote: > Unfortunately if you had the implants put in for cosmetic purproses > most PS's including Dr Feng, Dr Huang and Dr Kolb will want cash. Guest guest
's right. Insurance companies don't cover explant unless you're ill--and even then it can be difficult. PS's DO want payment up front prior to surgery. My insurance covered my rhinoplasty b/c I had a deviated septum, all the insurance things were worked out BEFORE surgery (about two weeks). As for all the other cosmetic work I have had done, it was PAID IN FULL UP FRONT. I was never told that if I changed my mind that there is no no refund policy. I was going to have surgery in Dec., but with the growth hormone BS, I called about 4 days prior and canceled. They offered me a 100% refund and I told them to hang on to it for when I reschedule. The mailed me a receipt and told me I could keep the account open, or refund at any time. I trust them with my money. As for Huang, a couple years (Nov.02) back someone here on SS was needing an ex plant and the insurance did not cover it and she could only afford 5,000(that's what she thought it was but then was told it was 8,000). Huang said no.Luckily she obtained care in Nevada. Take care. LMnaturalbeauty38 <naturalbeauty38@...> wrote: Sorry Lynda but that just isn't the case trust me I went through this only 4 or 5 years ago and almost every ps I consulted wanted money up front. I had no CC and no other complications that would be considered medically necesary.believe me, I work in the field, I know allot of PS's and they almost all want money up front. I felt and still feel that I made the best choice for me, and that is good enough for me.If others don't want to deal with up front money then i guess they go to the PS's that you say don't require any up front payment. That really is awesome as long as they are good and do what they need to and the results are excellent. Then everyone can be happy. I feel I paid for a service that was beyond excellent and i also feel i got what I paid for and have NO REGRETS. that was the most important thing to me. Everyone has their own feelings, priorities etc.take careIn , Lynda wrote:> Truly, most do not expect to be paid up front.> > Lynda> > > At 03:19 PM 5/28/2004, you wrote:> > >I know this was to be the case around a year and a half ago-, even though > >my ins covered a large % of Dr Feng- I would have to pay all money up > >front. Guest guest
No, insurance companies are not here to help us, they're here to make money/profit--that is their fundamental principle. The only way out of this is national health care. Americans need to wake up to this fact and decide what is is they want.As long as "for profit" private health insurance pays, this is the way it will be.Insurance companies are not to blame, WE the voters are.Lynda <coss@...> wrote: I have found that most plastic surgeons help with insurance, take insurance, and wait for payment from insurance. Guest guest
Depending on whether or not you have insurance and they can get a pre-authorization. If they can, they do not ask for up front $$ unless there is a deductible, and then, of course, they ask for that.
