Guest guest
Cricket, I totally know about thyroid. Not to brag, but it became my life, for the last three years. Nothing seemed to help I could not sweat, or lose weight, or have any energy. I was first on Levoxyl (another name brand like synthroid) alone, and it was upped to upper normal levels and it did not work. Hardly any differnce. hair loss too. I then saw Dr Merocla who helped me with all, but placed me on Armour for over 2 years , a natural thyroid hormone, made from dissected pig/bovine thyroid (yuck) well, he states 30% do not tolerate, and Iwas on it for over 2 years ,and nothing! NADA! Progesterone cream helped ,but no avail....I would argue with him, that it was not in my head. I almost went to see Dr Lowe, along with $2,000 in hand to Colarado for thyroid resistance. I was so fed up! www.drlowe.com He specialist in metabolic resitance. Meaning, although you are getting proper amounts of thyroid, at a cellular level, you are not taking it up, due to build up of toxins, stress...only t3 (cytomel) in severe cases will override the cellls, and force the hormone into the cell for uptake.Once that happens, you are on your way to wellness. Finally, I found Dr Manakas in Indiana on www.about/thyroid.com under recommended doctors and drove over an hour to see him for a 2nd opinion. I love Dr mercola, and alot of his stuff worked, and realy is a miracle to me, but I couldnt believe that an inability to sweat was just "in my head." And to let time tell. I tried for over 2 years, and was strict on his diet, no starches or sugars, and still I gained 15 pounds in two years, along with daily work out regimins! I mean Gimme a break! This needed to be addressed. Anyway- Dr Manakas found I had severe thyroid resistance. My heart rate was so low, blood pressure low, pulse was low, reflexes slow-and body temp was under 97.2. He couldnt beleive that i was functioning! He immediatly placed me on Levoxyl .75 once per day, and cytomel .25 twice per day, morning & night. I cant believe the differnce! My life has changed, I sweat, I have lost weight, no more hair loss, have energy, feel clearer! Cricket, form all I have learned : I would advise all thyroid patients to detox, first. Try a cleanse program. then try natural progesterone cream if you have estrogen dominant symptoms, as thyroid is greatly helped by progesterone, and read Dr Lees book "Premenapuse, What your doc may not tell you - living with your hormones form 30-50", It has helped many people I told about, including PAtty with her thyroid meds. She has lowered them. (she also does raw milk which has worked wonders for her? Also try adding in flax seed oil, 2 tblsp per day, & /or cocnut oil per day . If that does not work, try Armour, no luck still? Then you got Cytomel. It did wonders for me. If your metabolism is slow, you will not detox properly, meaning for instance- sweating is decreased, you are not getting toxins out right via the lungs, skin, ect. You have to have a normal metabolim to be able to detox correctly throigh diet and exercise. Detonig did not bring mine back, only getting the thyroid meds right first, then a strong metabolism to follow suit. I feel wonderful Love, >From: "cricket5643000" <cricket5643000@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Smoking? >Date: Fri, 28 May 2004 18:00:55 -0000 > >You guys are going to shame me into quiting. Guest guest
, Thank you so much for all the wonderful info. You do know your thyroid stuff. I have done alot of detoxing. And am feeling really pretty good right now. Its just this weight. I've only been on synthroid for a couple of weeks. I don't know how long it takes your body to ajust to it. I'll wait another couple of weeks and see if anything changes. If not I'll try the other things you have suggested. Thanks again Cricket >
Guest guest
cricket, i have been changing the subject for twenty yrs. or making a date to quit, running out, and buying more, and planning another date. my husband quit 3 yrs. ago and just this yr. really started eating right and working out and he's is even going to do a triathalon on june 11. he looks great-as i was going downhill-he was going up-he and my children will be my inspiration. granted, he's not carrying around two rotten bags of water, so i do have a little bit of an excuse-but all in all, he has been a great example of how much better you can be by doing the right things. love, llisacricket5643000 <cricket5643000@...> wrote: You guys are going to shame me into quiting. Guest guest
Try the Zyban if you truly want to quit smoking.Like the doctor said set a quit date.Take the Zyban and quit on the day you set.The Zyban helps control the cravings and it really helps.I quit one wk after I got the Zyban and was supposed to take the meds for six wks but stopped after four wks.Makes the cigarettes taste really bad, thus it is easy to quit.
