Guest guest
Patty, yes silica is good for the hair and nails. I'm defficient in that. I have fine skin hair and nails my entire life. I'm thinking of trying that. I bet it would be okay to take orally. Its not the same as silicone Patty. I worked with a nurse that said she tried all kinds of nail stuff and Loreal grow stronger made her nails grow like crazy. Just thought I'd add that. I'm trying it on my toe nails. I spoke with a dietician at work one day and she had some great info. She said you can buy flax seed actually by the pound and since its seeds you have to chew them, but the content is much stronger, plus the seeds have high fiber. I told her I was taking the oil and pills which is fine too. She said with the seeds you get the "fiber" . She stressed people become toxic due to not having enough fiber in their diet. Fiber, fiber, fiber. That is so important. So load up on it if you can. Regarding vitamins she said if you take them put them in regular vinegar and they dissolve they are probably okay, but if the vinegar is not breaking down the coating on the tablets then they aren't breaking down (digeting) in your tummy. That is a waist! She then said the better quality vitamins at the health food store or prob. fine. Just FYI. Some vitamins have really poor coatings etc. I thought oh great probably my multivitamin. I bough a walmart brand, although I do buy some at health food store. I tried the mulitvitamin and it did take forever to breakdown. So, I'm gonna get a different MVI. Guest guest
Hi Deb: You're right in that vitamins and minerals are essential for the body, including hair, skin, and nails. My first bout with telogen effluvium was due to a very VERY low fat/ low protein diet that caused my iron stores (ferritin), TIBC, RBC, hemocrate, hemoglobin to drop to abnormally low levels. Combine that with 4 general anesthetic procedures back to back in 13 months= a big time hair loss disaster! Before any of you think about going on some funky crash diet, think again. Your body needs GOOD FATS, protein (20 grams 3x per day according to U Virginia endo dept.), iron and vitamins. I have an upcoming dermatology appointment on Wednesday about my recent telogen effluvium (from the HGH), I'll keep you all posted and get some advise. If their are any questions you all have on hair (mainly hair questions as this is the premise for my appointment)skin and nails, post back to me and, I'll ask this doctor. My last doctor approved of the Lessman Hair Skin and Nail vitamin and also mineral supps. Make sure when choosing a hair vitamin, you choose one that has beta carotene as vitamin A and that it has a low amount of A in it. Too much A is notorious for causing telogen effluvium."Debbie B." <debsings04@...> wrote: Patty, yes silica is good for the hair and nails. I'm defficient in that. Guest guest
P.S. BTW, what exactly is organic vegetable silica? I was told at Cleveland Clinic that this is good for hair--biotin too. It's in the Lessman mineral pills. If it grows my hair, I'll take it. Heck, I'd rub **** on my head if I knew it would help. lol!Jane Doe <oceanlilly_csu@...> wrote: Hi Deb: You're right in that vitamins and minerals are essential for the body, including hair, skin, and nails.
