Guest guest
Dear Colleen, Wow! I didn't realize I had asked that many questions. Thanks for answering all of them. I don't think there is a test for Fibromyalgia. It's a diagnosis based on symptoms and examination. There is a wonderful support group at called -fibromyalgia - the little dash before the name is part of the name. There's also a really good website on fibro - I sent it to someone recently, and will see if I can find it for you. But the main determination is based on whether you have tender points (or maybe trigger points - I get them confused because to me they are the same thing). There are certain places that if you or someone else puts pressure on, you just about hit the ceiling - and you may never had noticed pain there. The website shows a diagram of the body and the sites. I paid no attention to my doc when he said I might have it. But when he pushed those points, I knew he was right! Painless hugs sounds good. Hugs back - very soft, gentle ones. Jo Re: [ ] COLLEEN Welcome Well Jo, I think I answered some of the questions already. I am an Aries and my birthday is April 19. I have one brother who lives in TX with his wife (Ed and ) and my niece (Kylie). To manage my pain, besides over the counter meds, I also just relax and listen to soft music. If it becomes really bad, I try to work my way into a warm bath. During this summer, swimming felt good. Just not overdoing it.Other medical conditions: GERD, hypertension and a high cholestrol. . . . .
Guest guest
Yeah that is what my doctor had wanted to do and I had scheduled an appointment for the trigger points but then lost the insurance and had to cancel the appointment. I can still go back since technically I wasn't diagnosed with fibro yet. Once I get into a routine with school and stuff, I may schedule the appointment. Hugs with a little pain tonight, Colleen Check out my website at: http://www.geocities.com/callyanne21/ >From: " jowicklund " <jowicklund@...> >Reply- >< > >Subject: Re: [ ] COLLEEN >Date: Tue, 4 Sep 2001 17:24:59 -0500 > >Dear Colleen, > Wow! Guest guest
Thanks . I haven't heard from him since him and I talked and I don't know what he is planing on doing. Really it is his decision. He is a big boy and can make up his own mind. And I told him that. I think a lot of the stress and emotional things going on are making me have flares. I felt like crap the other day...just that icky feeling I get before and during a flare. Anyways..I love ya all...you make me feel better when I read your e-mails. Guest guest
your welcome Joanne. That is one thing people say about me, and I am not trying to be big headed or anything but people always tell me I am friendly and sweet. I guess I have to be since I am a nursing assistant for Alzheimers residents. And going to nursing school to work with the elderly. I am sorry to hear you were up so long last night. I was too but because I was in pain. hugs, Colleen Check out my website at: http://www.geocities.com/callyanne21/ >From: " boop " <boop@...> >Reply- >< > >Subject: Re: [ ]Colleen >Date: Fri, 12 Oct 2001 09:25:10 -0700 > >Hi Colleen > >Thank you...it is nice to know people give a darn..I couldn't sleep until 4 >am...just feeling sorry for myself...time to get dressed even if I am going >nowhere HAHAHA...and thanks for being so sweet!! >Joanne > _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
Guest guest
Hi I am so sorry you were up last night due to pain...gosh we all can surely sympathize with that..Don't the nights seem so long when you are up? seems to me like they are never going to end at times. When I first received the diagnosis of RA, the rheumatologist said " RA only happens to nice people " Of course I took that as a compliment only later to find out it was not. She meant that exceptionally nice people (as I think many of us with RA are) tend to be too nice and stuff a lot of hurt inside..and as a result develop diseases such as RA. .At first I was upset that it was hardly a compliment but then began to think maybe there is something to that theory and we should toughen up..Only problem is I like being nice. You stay that way girl...God Bless you in your work. How we need NICE, caring people like yourself to help with such a devastating disease. Guest guest
Sometimes it is hard to be nice when you are in so much pain. Like the other night, I was in pain and at work. My residents are all sweet and I was trying to be nice...I think I did a good job under the circumstances. But it was hard. I couldn't wait to go home that night. I hate being at work when I have a flare. But I can't always call in because we are short staffed. So I have to learn to manage. Guest guest
Well I have been having blackout episodes and they want to check me for a seizure disorder. It lasts for about a minute and I just lose track of the time. Then to top it off, my fiance left me for another younger girl...like 19...(he is 21 and I am 24). Not good... And my hands are getting worse. Can hardly type some days. Very stiff...I always thought I was lucky to have it under control but probably the emotional stress is the problem.
