They pulled the plug! ha ha! It's goodbye.

I never watched it--thought it looked lame. I do watch the discovery channel about PS though. Plastic surgery EDUCATIONAL(medical shows--not cheese entertainment) shows are good, so long as they show the reality or risks and bad outcomes like our stories. They need to show, the good, bad, and the ugly in a medical context.

Hey girls:Have not been on to post or answer any of the posts in two days as I have been working and just so busy! I have gotten some overtime this week so that will be nice on the paycheck!GOOD LORD LAST NIGHT I WAS WORKING OUT AND TURNED ON THE TV AND WAS FIRST DISTURBED, THEN DISGUSTED,THEN JUST BEYOND WORDS.THAT SHOW CALLED "THE SWAN" IS AND HAS GOT TO BE TELEVISION AT IT'S LOWEST FORM I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. IT MAKES THE VICTORIA'S SECRET FASHION SHOW LOOK TASTEFUL!Ok I will turn off my caps now, I would asume that you guys understand my reason for the caps. It was to make sure my complete and utter disgust was properly conveyed. I would be even more surprised to find anyone on this group who won't agree with what I am saying here. Has anyone else ever seen this program? i had heard about it, or maybe seen an

advertisement for it, and I believe something I was watching, maybe some silly show that I like on VH1 called " the best week ever" ( this show is SO FREAKING FUNNY) anyhow i had no clue what it was. I admit ok, I have watched a few reality shows, just for the laughts, even though I know they are anything but reality. BUT THIS SWAN SHIT! OOPS sory ladies I cannot realy contain myself about this show.for those who don't know what it is all I can say is that the concept is they take maybe 20 women who are overweight, or who feel ugly, or have MAJOR self esteem issues, and then they do all this plastic surgery and for 3 months while this is going on they are not allowed to see themselves, FOR 3 MONTHS NO MIRROR while this group of supposed professional MEDICAL DOCTORS. Plastic surgeryons, therapists etc etc this team sits there and evaluates these women, like they are some type of object, and then THEY decided what they women

need, can you imagine this crap? The women just go wtih whatever the "TEAM" comes up with. Some I guess had tummy tucks, boob lifts or implants, nose jobs, chin tucks, teeth fixed, liposuction, blah blah blah. Hey and don't get me wrong, I am not anti plastic surgery at all, I mean I think breast lifts and chin tucks and allot of that stuff is awesome if your chosing to do it, accept the risks etc. Implant, well I am not supportive of that at all, chin implants, cheek implants, breast implants, all that crap to me is dangerous and frightening. But anyhow, they take these women and make them over, during that time they cannot see their family or anyone from the outside, they live together and the mirrors are all removed and it is just completely insane. I wonder how much is true? I only watched last night, which OH IT GETS BETTER, after all the surgery and the women are all made over and wonderful, they get to see themselves.

Then they (THIS IS WHERE IS REALLY GETS WEIRD) then they chose like 16 out of the 20 to be in this stupid pageant ya know, like miss USA or something, only it is for the stupid title of the "swan". Can you just imagine having all this stuff done to you, just to be judged, and then even after all the work they tell the ones who are not good enough to be in the pageant BYE BYE, and send them packing.I have to give some credit to the surgeons, they did make them look better, but allot of what I saw is those silly before pics they always take where the person looks like they just rolled out of bed,no makeup, hair mussed up etc. Also it seemed to me that allot of these women were not really as bad looking as they tried to make them out to be and that had they tried just maybe working out and ya know do it the real way, eat right, work out etc, that they would have been able to save themselves all that surgery.Anyhow that is what

they did, then they did a pageant and the women come out in swimwear, lingerie, evening gowns, etc etc ( i know by this time I should have turned the channel) it is kind of like looking at a car wreck, you should not look but you just cannot help it.They eliminated them down again, like miss usa or something, and then again and then they finally picked one. The funny thing was the one they picked was one of only 2 that did not get implants. Or at least looked small in her bathing suit, they looked real/ She was pretty, but like I said I think that some plastic surgery is great I honestly would not be against nips and tucks and lifts, but to make such a mockery of these women, to do it in such a crude way, i just found it to be really sad and disgusting.i wonder about them too, will any of the implanted ones get ill? There were enough with implants and not just breat, chin ones, cheeks blah blahanyhow I just thought it was

the saddest example of how this society treats women, makes us feel insecure, shows us that the way to be gorgeous is to go under the knife, rather than the honest way, the real way, which is to work out, to eat right, to treat yourself good, to wear makeup, dress nice etc, that is what i personally believe in. Hey there is nothing wrong with wanting to look good, I love to look nice, and I feel I do, I work out, I try to eat right, i color my hair and I tan once a week, and I do things like that, and hell yeah I did my breast lift, and if I get the saggy chin thing I would probaly not be afraid to fix it with a tuck, anything like that is fine, but where do we draw the line? When we start assembling people like they are dolls or something it gets pretty sickening ya know. What do you guys think? Am I off my rocker or do you all feel the same?I worked so hard to lose 60 pounds, I mean I worked my BUTT off, and I have

continued to work hard to stay this size, and i have managed to maintain within 5 pounds this weight for 7 years! I think that is doable for most women, and men actually, unless they have hormone issues or things like illnesses where they cannot be active anymore. I was blessed with two major things that helped me to stay slim, one was being able to work out despite pain and sickness(at least most of the time) and two, a determined mind and ability to push myself to work out daily. Those are things I am grateful for because I know that it is not that way for everyone, and I feel for those that I know who struggle with weight issues. I have several freinds at work that had gastric bypass surgery in order to lose weight, some people think it is the easy way, or that it is cheating, to me it seems like the hard way, but regardless of any of this crap, we are not just what we look like and while I place allot of importance on how I

look I hope I am not solely judged on my looks! I know when I have been brunette I def got treated differently than as a blonde, and when I had implants, I got allot more long stares and creepy guys attention, also women were uncomfortable around me, now I understand why too, I never want to make other women feel shitty about themselves because of how I look, and that is what I think those big boobs did to allot of people, why would we want to do that to our sisters ya know?Anyhow sorry for that big long rant, I really don't know what sent me over the edge on that one ha ha, anyhow you are all beautiful ladies inside and out! Some of you I have never even seen, but I know your beautiful because I know the real you!hugs to all-

: I agree with what you are saying, but these women tried out for the show and their families encouraged it. Thats what pisses me off. Of coures, if our society didnt do these shows women wouldnt be faced with having to "decide" to do them or not, but come on...I think most of them do it for the money and the attention they think they will get afterwards. I'm no beauty queen, but I think i look good. I'd never let anyone talk me into doing that. I'm all for cosmetic surgery, except the implants and I've had my share but to do it on TV....thats tacky and tasteless.

, isnt the world a sick place? That show sounds discusting. I hardly watch tv anymore as it is so saturated with lies, deceit and phoniness. I cant even Imagine, what little Tyler will be seeing in the future days. . Ill try my best to limit tv to an hour per night, as I do now. Keep him in alot of sorts and activities. Good luck with that, ya know.

I cant stand the images contanstly portryad on television. And we are grown women that have been through some stuff, and have open eyes. Most do not, and are younger and are very suseptable to this crap. Who the hell would do these shows> Sounds very sad. I saw that movie, 13 going on 30 (it is so refreshingto see new young actresses with smaller normal breasts) and the mom in that movie said to her little girl who wanted to look like the women in the magaznes,"Honey, they are not real women, they are models" And it is so true, the models are even changed, cropped up, enlarged, evened out- all to make appearances that arent true. It is all a lie what we see, and never close to the truth.Yet, so many almost kill themselves to be something, to attain something that even the models do not have.

My brother in law works for Spiegal, doing computer imaging and touches up models all the time. need that women in the picture with the green purse to have stunning green eyes to match? And a bronze tan to go with the whole package? Make her thinner too? Wholoaa! She is now tan, skinner, and has these emarald green eyes. And who knows how many teens have seen the pic, and got green contacts for eyes that are already perfect, lost weight to be the ideal image, and tanned themsleves closer to skin cancer, all the while the model has no tan and has brown eyes, and is hungry all the time. It is so sad! Thanks for the fill in... When is it on? >From: Jane Doe <oceanlilly_csu@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Re: THE SWAN -SO SICKENING >Date: Tue, 25 May 2004 20:39:15 -0700 (PDT) > >They pulled the plug! ha ha! I can't remeber I think it was Monday on Fox, but I do know it got

picked up for next fall so it will be on again. It is on hiatus for

the summer. It was sad, but at least the winner had real boobs!
