We oppose trafficking in all forms

Dear All,

This is in response to the recent spate of malicious disinformation campaign

against us, attempting to create an impression that we do not oppose the entry

of minors into the sexual services market.

It is well known that adult sex workers in our country are victims of various

forms of extortion and torture by police and goons. This age old legacy has

destroyed all faith and normalcy in the police - sex worker relations. Recently

during a police operation some untoward incidents have taken place in the

context of a raid in Sonagachi. We never support any violence against anybody.

We do not support any trafficking be it of the adults or of minors, for the

sexual services or for any other labour market. In fact the Durbar Mahila

Samanwaya Committee runs 23 Self Regulatory Boards in different sites of sex

work in West Bengal, precisely to oppose forcible entry of minors and unwilling

adults into the sexual services market.

We call upon all our sisters and supporters, all over the world, to actively

oppose the disinformation campaign currently being conducted against us by some

people with the hidden agenda of maligning our historic attempts at organizing

the sex workers of our country.
