Vacancy at the Asia Pacific PLHWA Resource Center

The Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (APN+), the

Indian Network for People Living with HIV/AIDS (INP+) and the UNDP

Program Regional Empowerment and Action to Contain HIV/AIDS (REACH)

Beyond Borders has come together to implement an Asia Pacific

Initiative for Empowerment of People Living with HIV/AIDS. The

Initiative includes PLHA networks in: Bangladesh, Cambodia, China,

India, Indonesia, Iran, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua, New

Guinea, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka.

The Asia Pacific Initiative for Empowerment of PLHA is aimed at

developing capacity of PLHA groups and organizations to be

meaningfully involved at all levels of response to the HIV/AIDS

epidemic including prevention, care and support efforts. A Resource

Center has been established at New Delhi to facilitate these efforts.

A project / office Coordinator is required to manage the activities

of the Resource Center. He / she should meet the following criteria:-

· An extensive knowledge on PLHA issues including GIPA principles,

formation of PLHA groups and capacity development of PLHA groups.

· Minimum 3-5 years working experience within PLHA groups, networks or

organizations, including experience in project implementation and

office management.

· Excellent verbal and written skills in English. Knowledge of Hindi

or another North Indian regional language will be an asset.

· Excellent communication and networking skills.

· Computer literate and proficient in using the Internet

People living with HIV having the requisite skills will be given

priority.

Job Responsibilities would include

1. Facilitate networking for implementation of activities and also

provide online support to PLHA networks/groups.

2. Network with the PLHA groups in South East Asia and Pacific (SEAP)

and facilitate the SEAP strategic workshop for empowerment of PLHA.

3. Identify and contract individuals/agencies to develop resource

material/guidelines/training modules and facilitate capacity transfer

through online support to the PLWHA groups in the following areas:

- Referral services

- Peer counseling

- Establishing a day-care center.

4. Contribute in planning the Asia Pacific and Indian PLHA Leadership

program and advocacy activities of the Asia Pacific Initiative in

close coordination with APN+ and UNDP

5. Expand and moderate the GIPA Community of Practice to include PLHA

groups from the entire Asia Pacific Region with the view to increase

exchange of learning within the Asia Pacific region and to strengthen

coordination for regional advocacy

6. Uploading articles in the resource center website

7. Coordinate and organize PLHA congress

8. Organize meetings of the advisory committee.

9. Supporting the creation of websites in coordination with an IT

team.

10. Monitor the progress of the implementing PLHA groups and submit

periodical

reports.

11. Any other task that may arise during the course of the project

period or may be advised by APN+ and INP+ in concurrence with UNDP
