Guest guest
Hi Everyone My name's Sharon and I'm in the process of hunting for a quality, sympathetic PS to remove the Mentor textured saline implants that were sub-muscularly implanted in Nov 2001. I thought I'd done my homework when I researched their " safety " before being implanted. So much for believing the general plastic surgery community…I wish I'd known about this group before the surgery. Anyway, I recently made an emergency trip to my family Dr with what I could swear was a heart attack (from the degree of chest pain). My ECG was fine. It dawned on me that since the pain was chest related, maybe it might have something to do with the implants. I'm not much of a computer user, but I started searching the web for info on implants. I was shocked to learn that so many of the " odd ailments " I'd been gradually accumulating over the last 18 months were associated with silicone poisoning.(Raynaud's phenomenon, poor sleep, sweats, clouded thinking, extreme fatigue, rapidly deteriorating eyesight, chest pain, excruciating headaches, an MRI showing white matter lesions, short term memory loss, muscle weakness, arthritic joint pains) I live near Tacoma, WA. I have been to my original PS and he grudgingly agreed to remove them for " my peace of mind " only he made it clear that he doesn't believe the symptoms are in any way related. I was adamant about having him do a complete capsulectomy, but he told me that he would refuse to remove the entire capsule if it was attached firmly to the chest wall, necessitating scraping. I realize I need to find someone else to do the explant. I read the list of PS on the website, but only found the one Dr in Bellingham (4-5hrs away). Does anyone know of a sympathetic, quality PS anywhere near Seattle or Tacoma, WA? I'm a single mom, and student on very limited income and it's going to take pretty much everything I have to get this done. While I won't scrimp on the cost of the procedure, I really want to try to find a Dr reasonably close to home if I can. Thanks for any suggestions anyone has Sharon
