HIV and Tuberculosis. Rise in Oppotunistic infections

Dear Forum,

I am Dr Shobarani working as Asst Prof of Microbiology at Rangaraya

Medical College,East Godavari District,AP.I have undertaken Research

work for FHI India like Screening of Female Sex Workers of East

Godavari District and Truckers of Ongole,Nellore District along with

NGO CHANGES in the year 2000. We are continuing the surveillance over

a 3 year period and the HIV seropositive status has increased from

almost 42% to 47% in 2003. There is a rise in Oppotunistic infections

like Tuberculosis,and Fungal infections.

I am currently involved with identifying MSM and Transgenders who may

be one of the links for spread in addition to Heterosexual spread
