The India HIV/AIDS Alliance supports community action on AIDS in India. To support the growth of our work, we are recruiting experienced, committed Indian nationals to join the existing team based in Delhi. We are recruiting the following staff: 1. Director: Programmes (apply by 20 September 2003) 2. Director: Finance & Administration (apply by 20 September 2003) Core requirements for both posts: · Commitment to HIV and development work with a strong community orientation · Good strategic and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail · Highly motivated, flexible and with good interpersonal skills · Able to work well both independently and as part of a team · Sound computer skills (MS Office package) · Relevant post-graduate and/or professional qualifications · Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi · Qualified candidates living with HIV/AIDS are encouraged to apply Director: Programmes (from Rs.774,000 pa) Apply by 20 September 2003. Reporting to Director: India HIV/AIDS Alliance The Director: Programmes leads India HIV/AIDS Alliance’s programmes department currently comprising a five member team, with plans for expansion, in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Alliance’s programmes in India. This requires ongoing monitoring of the HIV epidemic in India; the response of NGOs and NGO support programmes; and, the roles of government agencies, donors and other stake-holders. The Director: Programmes must ensure that the Alliance’s programmes in India build upon the Alliance’s strengths while being effective, strategic and responsive to local needs. Key responsibilities : - Ensure the development and monitoring of work-plans, budgets, funding proposals and reports. - In collaboration with other relevant Alliance staff, develop and maintain professional relationships with programme partners and relevant donors. - Contribute to the India HIV/AIDS Alliance’s overall planning, management and development. Specific requirements (in addition to core requirements for all posts, noted above): - Strong vision of how the Alliance can strengthen the response to AIDS in India. - Entrepreneurial and innovative in translating vision into practice. - Able to support, inspire and facilitate contributions from a wide and varied team, including staff, consultants and programme partners. - Experience in consensus building and diplomacy is essential. - Masters or Doctoral level academic qualification in health, development, gender studies or other relevant field. - At least 7-10 years relevant experience. Director : Finance & Administration (from Rs. 774,000 pa) Apply by 20 September 2003. Reporting to Director: India HIV/AIDS Alliance The Director: Finance and Administration is responsible for the efficient and effective functioning of the India HIV/AIDS Alliance’s financial and administrative systems and procedures while ensuring the optimum use of resources. In addition, the Director: Finance and Administration ensures that the Alliance develops and maintains appropriate Human Resources and Administration procedures and systems, and that these are understood and adhered to by all staff. S/he will also advise and assist the Director: Programmes in developing and implementing technical support strategies to strengthen the financial and administrative functions of partner organisations. S/he will keep abreast of relevant developments in India. Key responsibilities: · Ensure compliance with statutory and contractual requirements · Advise the Director of the India HIV/AIDS Alliance on financial strategy and policy · Develop and oversee the Administration and Human Resources systems · Provide technical advice to strengthen financial and administrative functions of partner organisations · Assist in the negotiation of funding agreements with donors Specific requirements (in addition to core requirements for all posts, noted above): ·Expertise in finance and administration ·Professional accountancy qualification ·Experience of computerised accounts (Quickbooks preferred) ·At least 7-10 years of relevant experience ·Experience of NGO work desirable ·Experience of allocating and transferring funds to projects in the non-profit sector Interested candidates should apply by 20th September 2003, enclosing a cover letter, curriculum vitae (not more than 4 pages) and full contact details of three professional referees (please indicate if you would like us to contact you before approaching any referee).
