Guest guest
Kt, What were your symptoms before the surgery? How did the doctors figure out it was your gall bladder? I have some pressure at times under my right rib and indigestion but never any severe pain. It is more aggrivating than painful. It almost feels like I have a big air bubble stuck under my ribs. It comes and goes. Is this similar to your symptoms? I had an ultrasound and there were no stones and the gall bladder looked fine. Did they see stones in yours? I really feel like this is gall bladder related but have not had a definite diagnosis. I Wish to share After 2 yrs of battling gallstones I finally had the Laparascopic procedure done yesterday- (hope I dont bite my words as I progress in recovery) I feel absolutely terrific -symptoms gone .I tried all the flush remedies out there w/no success.I began w/horrible symptoms of Gerd -wanted to die from acid reflux for the past 6 weeks-faught w/my internist saying I have never had the typical attacks of GS. I researched the best surgeons in N Calif and Im now so blessed and grateful .I have not even needed 1 pain med .I went in to surgery at 1.30 pm yesterday and was home by 5pm. I'm not at all promoting surgery only wanted to share the info w/anyone considering the procedure. Well wishes to all of you . Kt

Guest guest
Hello, I suppose I should add my own experience here. I have battled with my gallstones for over fifteen years and have tried numerous remedies, including flushes, herbal treatments, strict culinary regimes, etc. etc. Generally I was able to manage the symptoms quite well, with a little discomfort and average of one major attack a year. I am in my mid fifties, 5ft 11 " , 158lbs, and exercise daily, including three four mile runs per week. The past two years my discomfort increased regardless of any attempts to deal with them. Even a glass of apple juice would lead to a aching pain in my chest. Many a night I went to sleep pushing a cushion into my midriff for some comfort. Nine months ago I had one of the worst attack ever. The attack lasted 4 1/2 hours and the pain was so severe that on a couple of occasions I felt as if I was about to feint. My surgeon was very understanding and refused to push me into any decisions, and would not guarantee that the pain that I was feeling would be resolved by the removal of my gallbladder. He did suggest I would no longer have painful attacks, and recommended that if I have my gallbladder removed, I continue to eat the healthy diet that gallbladder disease forces one too for the rest of my life. After three visits to him (he was very patient!), I decided to have the laparoscopic treatment. I have never been in a hospital before for anything, and take no medications etc. so I was a little apprehensive. I had the operation over two weeks ago. The small incisions are already healed, and as with Dave's experience, the pain in my chest disappeared instantly. I was back to work in a few days, and feel very well, in fact my overall health seems to have been sharpened. Good luck to all who are fighting to keep their gallbladders. I wish you the very best, but if you, like myself, have to give in and have it removed, have no fears. As long as you are prepared to be as careful after its removal as you were before in your lifestyle, there is life after removal! Cheers - Thanks KT, can you keep us posted as to how things are every once in a while? It would be great to know that you are doing fabulously 3 months, 6 months, a year after surgery. Guest guest
, Have you had any other test's done? The first ultra sound I had done showed just sludge had second one done and stones appeared. I also have the same symptoms just pressure VERY annoying!!! My GI thinks it is just gas. You should have another ultrasound just so you know. There are other test's out there to push your doctor to give you. I did find a great website for gallbladder issues you should check it out. www.gallbladderattack.com Take care Have a Blessed and Prosperous day! Guest guest
Hello Colleen, No, I never once had any sensation under my ribcage. The pain that I felt was easily confused with ulcers. It felt like a heart attack when I was undergoing an 'attack', and a mild heart attack, the past couple of years, whenever I ate or drank anything at all. My ultrasound fifteen years ago showed numerous small stones. The one I had done recently showed numerous small stones. Loathe as I was to lose a precious organ, I had to balance the discomfort and pain with the possible effect on the body of losing the gallbladder. After a brave fight, I finally chose the removal. As to the comment made by someone on the list, 'time will tell', I have over fifteen years spoken with scores of people who have had the operation and two regretted having it done as it does not seem to have helped with their digestion issues, while it has to be said that the majority had no issue at all after their operation apart from loose stools on occasion in a few cases. We all have to make our own choices and whether we keep our gallbladders of chose to have them removed, the Ferryman must be paid. Cheers - Louis, Did you feel pressure under your rib cage at all? Guest guest
Colleen, Do gall bladder issues usually cause pressure under your rib cage? That is my main complaint but the doctors did not see anything on my ultrasound. I am feeling better but still have pressure off and on under my ribs. I am trying to figure out if I should go for further testing or just try to manage the symptoms with diet. Guest guest
No, the ultrasound is the only test I have had done. They mentioned another test to measure the function of the gall bladder and maybe a CT if my symptoms didn't go away. The pressure is much better but still there. I keep hoping it will go away because I'm not too fond of all the tests, hospitals, etc. Guest guest
, I had the function test done. It is not hard you just have to lay still for awhile. I would have all the tests done you can to make sure and find out also if you have any gastrointestional issues. That is where I am at now. God gave us our Gallbladders for a reason try everything you can before removal. Stay positive and keep an eye on your diet, exercise more also drink plenty of water!!!!! Please keep in touch. Guest guest
, I have pressure as well. I have had 2 ultra sounds and a function test where they insert CCK ( fat) into you to see the function. I am not an expert but I have stones and my gallbladder according to the function test was only operating at 6%. I have tried to explain the feeling to both of my doctors and I really do not appreciate the answers I get. We know our bodies. I find that if I eat some fat the pressure goes away. Good fats like almonds, avocado, flax oil or a little cold pressed olive oil mixed with apple cider vinegar. I would go for the other tests if your doctor would give them to you. I am currently going to see a ND Naturopathic doctor. I will keep you informed on what I learned. Stay encouraged and watch your diet as well. Colleen Have a Blessed and Prosperous day!
