Guest guest
I'm allergic to " dead milk " , why, well in part because they have cooked it and killed the live enzyme Lactase which is naturally in milk, to help us digest it. Now from what i have learned on the subject of lactase our bodies produce lots of it when we are young, and less of it as we age, making us more likely to become allergic to dairy products as we get older. I did not notice any allergies to it until I hit mid 40's, then suddenly I can't tolerate anything with milk in it. I also happen to live in (NV) one of the states which OUTLAWS RAW MILK. Now just look at those words, outlaws raw milk, that is what they have done. WHY?? Yet I have (Personally) never heard of one case of raw milk killing someone, or even making them sick for that matter. I'm not saying it cannot happen, especially if the conditions are not clean. I drank raw cow and goat milk as a child whenever my parents could get it, and it's the best milk I can ever remember having, taste wise. You asked: " Why is it illegal in most states? The reason usually given is that it is not safe. Is there more to it than that? Are there political and/or financial reasons for this? " All good questions by the way, My answer is....There is no money to be made on a bunch of healthy people drinking raw milk and eating raw milk products!! I like to resort to biblical times for answers concerning what is or is not good to eat, and milk was a common food even back then. To answer your other question, goats milk is supposed to be more nutritous than cows milk. Guest guest
From what I understand, Lactaid products are milk products with the lactose removed. But I am guessing that while some people have problems with lactose, others have problems with the casein in milk. Does anyone know what the symptoms of lactose problems versus the symptoms of casein problems? Guest guest
I have a casein allergy. It translates for me in cramps/spasms in my guts, and diarrhea. It is not immediate. It takes a few days to start. I am not sure what lactose intolerance translates into. I have heard gas and bloating. The good part about casein allergy is that I can eat butter. On the other hand, most cheeses are out. Guest guest
Or they may have lactase added, the enzyme needed to digest it. I'm not sure which way they make it digestible, but the problem is they have cooked all the nutrients and enzymes out of it. Leaving a dead food with no nutrition left in it. That's why I call it dead milk. Those who are lactose intolerant (the sugar found in milk) dont have enough enzymes left in our bodies to properly digest cooked milk, thus it causes Gastro-intestinal problems ie nausea, diarrhea, bloating, flatulence and malabsorption. Lactose Intolerance is known to increase markedly with age. Raw milk full of all the natural nutrients and enzymes can be tolerated by many with lactose intolerance. Also I find I'm able to eat butter (milk fat) without any problem. ****Casein's most common allergy symptoms are itchy skin conditions, Gastro-intestinal and respiratory problems.**** Casein (a milk protein) allergy is often apparent with babies, but can remain undiagnosed until adulthood. Reactions including hives, eczema, vomiting, asthma and diarrhea are common. Casein is added to many packaged foods, thus making it hard to avoid. hth, fjnie1234 wrote: > >From what I understand, Lactaid products are milk products with the lactose removed. > > But I am guessing that while some people have problems with lactose, others have problems with the casein in milk. > > Does anyone know what the symptoms of lactose problems versus the symptoms of casein problems? > > Thanks! > > > > > > >> >
Guest guest
How do you know that it is the casein? How did you figure that out? My main symptom with dairy is sinus problems. I always wondered if it was the casein or the lactose. Guest guest
If you are allergic to casein you will still be allergic to raw milk also. The reason many lactose intolerant people can tolerate raw milk is because it still has the enzyme lactase in it, which helps us digest the milk. odile kaylor wrote: > PS: > I am ok with Goats milk. > I have not tried raw milk. Guest guest
Lactose problems are generall gastro-intestional only, because you cannot properly digest the milk without the missing enzymes. I also forgot to mention in my previous post that the symptoms begin within minutes of eating dairy products. One way you can test this out to see if it's just the missing lactase (the enzyme to help digest lactose) or is it's casein is to buy a small bottle of lactaid or other enzyme replacer. (sold OTC at your grocery store) Then consume some milk and take the milk enzyme pill with it, if all goes well and you have no symptoms, you are lactose intolerant, and taking the enzyme pills will help you digest dairy when you eat it. fjnie1234 wrote: > Do you know the difference between casein problems and lactose problems? Guest guest
That is weird because the raw milk farms have very very strenuous conditions of hygienne and health. Guest guest
The unsanitary conditions the cow live in at the large dairy farms maybe. That does not excuse them for making raw milk illegal. By outlawing it they are assuming that everyone keeps that same very poor standard for sanitation where their cows are concerned. Not all cows are kept in those bad conditions. Besides the fact that if sanitation is the problem, then who in their right mind would consider drinking that milk even after they have cooked all the nutrients out of it?? Yuck! I don't believe this was done to protect us, that is not the MO of the FDA. They have proven to me repeatedly that they have done nothing, in my best interest or that of the public. Guest guest
U raise some good points but one can get raw milk if one looks / hunts for it- Whole Foods carries it- it is not illegal to sell raw milk at least not in a number of states - good luck FB On Friday, September 18, 2009, at 04:25PM, " Lady Pilgrim " <Ladypilgrim@...> wrote: >
Guest guest
Not really off topic as foods that are conducive to health are surely a good topic for gallstones and any other ailments. The powers that be..know how to make food harmful, and without any health benefits..thats why the junk food market is so huge...and our taste buds have to have really strong tasting foods.. raw milk is not harmful..like pasteurized...what a con..to tell people its about the germs etc.. there are all sorts of very nasty things in pasteurized milk..but they won't tell you about those.. ajd
Guest guest
Well what matters most to me is that it is illegal here in NV where I live. I can get it, if I'm willing to either go to another state to purchase it, or have it shipped to me (frozen), at around $8.00 per gallon, before shipping is added on. So until I'm able to leave this State, milk is not an option for me at all.
