Conference Announcement:

1st National Conference of AIDS Society of India (ASICON 2005)

ASI, a professional body of the doctors involved in HIV care, is hosting the 1st

National Conference of AIDS Society of India (ASICON 2005) at Hotel Ashok in New

Delhi from April 2-4, 2005.

World-renowned faculty in HIV medicine and researchers from around the globe

will share the state-of-the-art knowledge, their insights, experience and vision

both in plenary and interactive sessions. These scientific deliberations will be

useful in enhancing our capacity to offer quality care to HIV infected

individuals in India and also help researchers in prioritizing researchable

issues in India. It will provide an opportunity to review, reflect upon and

look forward to emerging newer approaches in HIV medicine.

Sponsors: ASICON 2005 is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Health & Family

Welfare, GOI; NACO; ICMR; YRG-Care and PHO from India and US Dept.of Health and

Human Services/National Institutes of Health (NIH); UNAIDS; International AIDS

Society; USAID; Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Intl. AIDS Vaccine

Initiative (IAVI).

Opportunistic infections and Malignancies in HIV/AIDS; Antiretroviral Therapy

(ART); ARV resistance; Women and Children & Pediatric HIV Management;

Prevention, Behavioral, Social and Challenges; HIV in special populations;

Principles of HIV vaccines, challenges in development and HIV vaccine trials in

India; Linking prevention with care; Nursing care in HIV/AIDS.

Who Should Attend? Practicing Doctors/Clinicians with experience and/or interest

in HIV/AIDS, Clinical Epidemiologists, Researchers, representatives of

organizations/ institutions involved in HIV care and funding agencies are

encouraged to register at the earliest.

Abstracts: Abstracts are invited in Clinical and Biomedical field of HIV/AIDS

using the format: Background and Objectives; Methodology; Results and

Conclusions. Participants are encouraged to submit Abstracts online, however a

hard copy must follow. Last date for Abstract Submission and Early Bird

Registration: March 7, 2005.

Registration Fees: Early Bird Rs. 2500 (India, Nepal and Bhutan);

US$ 150/-for SAARC Countries; US$ 450/- for other Countries.

After 1st March: Rs.3500/-; $ 200/- and $ 500/- respectively.

For ASI Life members are eligible to get 20% Discount

Post-Graduate Students: Rs. 1500/- (for first 100 only)

Registrations are limited to 1000 delegates only, on first come first served

basis.

Scholarship: A few scholarships to cover registration, travel and accommodation

will be granted to post-graduate students depending on the availability of

funds.

- Scholarship applications: March 7, 2005
