India AIDS: Request for Proposals

Description: The World Bank would like to invite qualified Indian

research institutions to submit proposals for the development and

application of models to analyze the long-term economic impact of

HIV/AIDS in India at either the federal or state level or both. In

addition to providing critical information about the size and nature of

the economic impact of HIV/AIDS epidemics in India, this work would

also increase awareness and build commitment among officials in the

Ministry of Finance and other policy makers in Government of India on

the need for a timely, focused and effective set of interventions to

prevent and control HIV/AIDS and minimize its negative effects on the

economy.

Proposals will be judged by their creativity, the rigor of the

frameworks, and the likelihood that they will yield valuable

recommendations for public policy. Proposals should be no more than

2000 words/equivalently 8 pages double-spaced, size 12 font.

Submissions in other formatting will not be accepted. Proposals are due

by December 10, 2004 at 5pm Delhi time and should be sent

electronically to Nina Anand at nanand@....
