Guest guest
For those who have decided to get the surgery you may want to look up Single Incision Laproscopic Surgery (SILS). Traditional surgery requires three, sometimes four incisions but this new technology approved by FDA in 2009 only requires one penny size incision near the belly button. The advantage of SILS obviously is that there are not visible scars, and there is less post-op pain and faster recovery. Few surgeons are trained on SILS at this time and fewer hospitals have the equipment. I had to call several hospitals (surgery admissions department) in my insurance network to locate a couple of SILS surgeons. The cost of the SILS procedure is the same as conventional laproscopic surgery so no special approvals are needed from the insurance company. Fortunately my HIDA scan was negative so I do not need to worry about my GB for now. I am reading posts with interest and may try cleansing when I am feeling better.
