Guest guest
AIDS Walk for Life The HIV/AIDS epidemic continues to gather momentum in India, destroying innocent lives and imperiling future generations. Despite valiant efforts by government agencies and charitable groups, large cross-sections of Indian society lack basic information about the nature of the disease and how individuals can protect themselves against it. As a result, the epidemic is spreading rapidly to the general population. It is therefore critical to launch an immediate and dramatic campaign aimed at raising awareness throughout the country. Project Concern International/India (PCI/India), an affiliate of its U.S.-based parent organization and a registered Charitable Society, is planning to do just that. It is organizing an unprecedented, year-long AIDS Walk for Life that will bring information, as well as vital health care and counseling, to an estimated two million Indians. Beginning in Delhi on World AIDS Day — December 1, 2004 — and continuing for 365 days, the Walk will follow the route of the newly constructed Golden Quadrilateral Highway, educating rural and urban residents in 13 states and over 300 cites and towns. PCI/India is uniquely positioned to implement this campaign. With offices in the four corners of India, partnerships forged with numerous NGOs and government agencies, and broad technical expertise, PCI/India has played a key role in combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic in India since 1997. Please join us in this historic and important journey. Together we can make a difference ... step by step. AIDS Walk for Life.
