You can get amino acid chelated iron or ferritin in supplement form. All of the

inorganic iron supplements are very hard on the digestive tract. Good luck. -D

Anemia and gall bladder problems

Hello,

I have done 4 gall bladder cleanses, of which my last was the most successful.

I am needing to do another cleanse, but I have a problem with iron deficiency

anemia. The last lab test I had showed a hemoglobin number of 11.2 and ferritin

of 6.6. I am sure it has gone down from that.

I have a problem taking iron supplements because of my digestive issues--each

thing I take causes abdominal discomfort or pain. I have tried normal iron

supplements, Geritol, Herbal Iron (Dr. ), and Floradix. My naturopath

had me taking the homeopathic remedy Ferrum Phos, which I can take, but it is

not working or not working fast enough. I have recently tried blackstrap

molasses, but I have been off all sugar for a year, so I am having trouble

taking it. To be honest, I have oriented my meals around what is good for my

gall bladder rather than the anemia, so I know I could work harder on foods, but

it is difficult because I am limited in what I can eat. I take wheatgrass

everyday, which has chlorophyll in it, and I also take Herbal Calcium (Dr.

)which has nettle and oatstraw in it and are good herbs for iron. I

take Dr. 's Liver Gallbladder formula.

I have been having less and less energy, and I am now to the point where I

don't know if I have enough energy to do another cleanse.

Do any of you have suggestions on what I can do? I am almost ready to throw in

the towel, so to speak, and contact my medical doctor, which would almost

certainly lead to surgery.

Hi ,

Do you have any cast iron cookware? If not, consider getting some and start

cooking everything you can in it, as any food cooked in cast iron automatically

picks up iron from the pot. Foods cooked slowly for longer periods of time, for

instance soups, stews or pasta sauces that simmer on low heat for several hours,

will absorb more iron from cast iron cookware than foods which are cooked

quickly.

Can you consume more iron rich foods like spinach, pumpkin seeds, clams,

oysters, mussels or liver?

You can also take supplemental vitamin C, which will help your body to better

absorb the iron in the foods you eat.

Taking blackstrap molasses every day is a great way to get more iron, so maybe

you could try experimenting with different ways of taking it, like putting it

into smoothie with some other ingredients to hide the sweet taste, or perhaps

incorporating it into some other kind of drink.

Elan

Hi ,

I can relate to how you are feeling because I also have/had iron deficiency

anemia. Years ago my ferritin level was tested very low (5 i think---can " t

remember the numbers) and I had heartburn every day. It was awful. Anyway, I

fasted for four weeks under supervision and did colema cleansing everyday

(again with supervision). It is possible that you are not absorbing nutrients

well. A complete cleansing will help that. Anyway, after the cleanse, my

ferritin level shot way up.

My friend in Costa Rica is running a cleanse in July, If you had time (make the

time somehow) and a bit of extra cash, you could go down and have a supervised

cleanse. The colon cleansing part is most important.

Wishing you all the best.

reflux should be handled by taking apple cider vinegar regularly.
