Dr Piot, Executive Director, UNAIDS visiting India 2 – 7

November 2004

Dr Piot, Executive Director, UNAIDS, will be in India 2 – 7

November 2004.

The purpose of the visit is to meet with members of the UN family,

representative of the Government of India and other partners with a

view to strengthening the UNAIDS support in India.

Among other things, Dr Piot will address 3000 student leaders who will

come together on the 6th - 7th November in Delhi to conduct a Youth

Parliament on HIV/AIDS. The objective of the Parliament is to increase

awareness among the youth on HIV/AIDS prevention and care and engage

the young elected representatives in the response to HIV/AIDS in India.
