Guest guest
coffee enema NOTE: It is a good idea to start with a warm water enema first, to remove the wastes present and ready to be eliminated. Then follow with the coffee enema for full benefit. BASIC DIRECTIONS (1) Boil 1 quart/1 liter water, with 3 rounded tablespoons of freshly ground coffee in non-metal pan (I use glass)over med heat. Use only filtered, purified or distilled water, not tap water. Do not use a coffee maker. Use only organically grown, non-decaffeinated coffee beans. Store coffee beans in the freezer to retain freshness (2) Allow coffee to boil for 5-15 min, to evaporate the oils. (3) Let cool to body temp. (4) Strain, using a fine-mesh stainless steel tea strainer(it looks like screen wire) to strain out the grounds, leaving the "silt". Since many of the beneficial elements for detoxification in the coffee are fiber-bound, it isn't a good idea to use a paper strainer, or even a cloth, unless it's got a fairly coarse weave. (5) Filtered water may be added back to make one full quart. Using an enema bag, insert coffee mixture into rectum. Lie on your right side for 15 min with knees toward your chest, breathing deeply. (6) Evacuate bowels. Additional comments on the coffee enema: "Gerson knew that the coffee enema dilated the bile ducts and caused a flushing of toxic bile from the liver. (Drinking coffee constricts the bile ducts). He also knew that this was the most effective method for detoxification. Since Gerson's time various active ingredients in coffee have been identified and most interestingly, the palmitates present in coffee increase the binding of toxic elements by the bile 7-fold and this enzyme-enhancing ability in the liver and small intestine does not allow reabsorption of the toxic bile. Most cholerectic herbs do not ensure this complete removal of toxins but only an increase in bile flow. In order to assist detoxification I often recommend the coffee enema. They guard against a toxic build-up that can make you feel so dreadful and in this way help the body to heal. It is important to remember that the coffee enemas go hand-in-hand with the juices: no enemas - no juices and no juices - no enemas. The juices will remove toxicity from the tissues and the coffee enema ensures its removal to the outside. If used without the juices they will ultimately have a depleting effect on nutrients. The rule of thumb is - 3 juices (3 x 250mls) per coffee enema. If you increase the juices then you can safely increase the enemas." From "Detoxing and the Flagging Liver(part 2 of 3)by (From Gerson Healing Newsletter Vol. 15, No. 3, May-June, 2000) http://www.gerson.org/healing/articles/nl_detoxingliver.htm QUESTION: How does coffee taken orally differ from taking it as a rectal enema? ANSWER: Coffee taken by mouth is a vasoconstrictor causing capillary and bile duct constriction. Drinking coffee is damaging to the stomach due to the aromatic fatty acids (which are not absorbed through the colon since the aromatics are boiled off in the "coffee enema recipe" preparation). Drinking coffee is an artificial stimulant and appetite suppressant as well as creating a more acidic environment in the body which is counter productive to healing. When taking the coffee enema, the caffeine and other components act to relax and open the bile ducts releasing toxins (as much as seven times the normal rate) from the liver. The glutathione-S transferase system is activated as well to enhance the functions of the immune system. Simply put, one is health giving and on is not. Choose the "coffee break" that is cleansing and supportive. Thousands of people have found this to be true. The coffee enema is also an excellent method for pain relief that is caused by toxic build up in the liver and colon. Remember, Dr. Gerson first developed his Therapy to cure his migraine headaches. However, a word of caution: any more than one coffee enema a day should be taken with sufficient juices and supplements to maintain a healthy balance in the body. Dr. Gerson spent many years developing a safe and effective therapy that requires some attention and study by the users. Still have questions? Guest guest
Hi Lynn ... Don't call it an "enema bag." What I've seen around for years is the red, plastic hotwater bottle. It also can be used for douche and enema ... from Goodhealth. If you can't find, I just purchased oganic coffe made in Canada from . The internet site is www.sawilsons.com. They were also selling enema stuff. His coffee is specifically made for coffee enemas. Guest guest
I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not, Lynn. Patty would be the one who'd probably know. I've just always used regular. Guest guest
Thanks for the response PH!! I feared that I would be up all night with caffinated coffee - even up that end Thanks for the encouragement. I am excited to get cleaned out! The things that make me happy these days just amaze me. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, Yes, even up that end you might feel the effects of the caffeine!! I always do mine in the morning. With your job that might be kind of difficult. It takes about a half an hour to an hour depending on my energy level and whether I feel like praying and meditating along with it or just getting it over and done with. You're right...the things that make us happy these days...who would have thought?!? - PH > > > > Is it okay to use de-caf organic coffee for the enema? Guest guest
Hi Lynn, I'm not sure about the glass pan. Maybe that's safer? What I do is boil 3 T of coffee in 1 qt of distilled water in a saucepan and then strain it through a coffee filter in my coffee maker (with the coffee maker off). After the coffee cools to room temp I put it in the plastic enema bucket. - PH > > Patty or PH - or anybody who does the Coffee Enema... > > Where did you find a glass pan? Guest guest
All I have is metal saucepans and the coffee enema listed in the detox file recommends glass... I found a few on e-bay just now, I might go that route. Great idea on straining through the coffee maker. Thanks PH! Lynn Re: Coffee Enema Hi Lynn, I'm not sure about the glass pan. Guest guest
Hi Patty, Thanks for the advice. My pans are stainless steel inside and out with an aluminun inner lining. I thought I was safe w/ the stainless surrounding it but I don't think I'll chance it. I do use a wire strainer instead of the coffee filter. Guess I better head out to the store to find some glass pans. It's weird, it's almost like I'm first married because I have all new kitchen ware. I replaced all my plastics w/ glass a few months ago and now I need new pans! - PH > > > > Patty or PH - or anybody who does the Coffee Enema... > > > > Where did you find a glass pan? Guest guest
PH, I'm confused...do your pans have aluminum in contact with the food, or stainless steel? If it is stainless steel, it should be okay. But since all metal pans confuse me, I just go with porcelain or glass! Cookware is not my specialty....I don't know what's what when it comes to what they are all made of and how they all work. TEflon is bad too. That teflon coating flakes off and we end up eating it, not to mention it outgasses into the foods too even if it doesn't look like it is flaking. I had a Foreman grill once (gave it away) and I could really TASTE the teflon in the chicken I had cooked on it! It was GROSS! Cooked up the meat nice, but ruined the taste, IMO. Hopefully you won't have to buy all new cookware! I know it's expensive. But well, the good thing is that once you get yourself some good stuff, you'll be set for life! Guest guest
Hi Patty, No, my pans don't have aluminum that comes into contact with the food...the aluminum is encased on both sides by stainless. I thought it was safe but I'm so leary of everything now. I should worry about aluminum more as my grandma had Alzheimer's and her autopsy showed high levels of it. I have a cast iron pan that I use a lot just because I was low in iron. It's just a pain to clean by hand because it's so darn heavy. You mentioned Visions...I used to have a set when I was in college but everything seemed to stick to it...although maybe it was my cooking! I didn't use olive oil back then either. Yuck, I'd have a hard time eating any chicken for a while after it tasting like Teflon! - PH > > > > > > Patty or PH - or anybody who does the Coffee Enema... > > > > > > Where did you find a glass pan? Guest guest
PH, Everything does stick to visions cookware. That is why I seldom use it. I do use stainless steel. And I use Corelle. Things do not stick as badly to Corelle or Corning Ware (same thing). Guest guest
Hi Dede, The foot is doing well, I was told to stay off the treadmill for 6 more weeks, darn. I have a little nerve damage and some ligament damage, but he said it would be possibly January before it was the same as before the break, so I guess time is the great healer. The flu is better, sometimes I feel very normal, then if I do a bit too much, I get very tired and weak and queasy again. Can't say my bowel movements are normal again either, very runny. So guess it will be a while before all the symptoms leave, but I am certainly better. I did find out that some people are going a month before this completely goes away. So, guess another week and I will be over all the rest of it, cross my fingers. Tonight I was able to eat dinner and I feel ok, so that is good, because at lunch all I could manage was chicken noodle soup, mostly broth. It comes and goes, but I have to say, that first week was BAD. So, I am grateful that I am doing this well. Thanks for asking, hope your BP is better and you are doing OK. Up and down is a bit scary. Guest guest
Hi Beth, Patty said her doctor has been doing coffee enemas daily for 20 years!! I do one a few times a week depending on time. Liver flushes I do every two weeks and when I start feeling a little better I'll do them monthly and then eventually seasonally. Colonics I do every few weeks in packages of three but will probably take a break after the next session. It's all individual. Just see what feels best for you and your circumstances. I asked Patty the same question about can you detox too much. She said yes, without a doubt. I was definitely doing too much in the beginning. mercola even said I need to take it easy because too much detox is hard on the adrenals. He said picture the toxins in your body as a stadium full of people. If everyone tries to exit at once there will be causalities (ie damage to cells, organs, etc). So with detoxing he said slow and steady wins the race. I try to do one form of detox a day whether it's as simple as skin brushing or as involved as a colonic or liver flush. But I listen to my body and just can tell now if I can only tolerate a skin brush, epsom salt bath or maybe even nothing at all. There have been a few times where I just have to take a break completely and rest and repair. Love, PH > > Just wondering how often one should do a coffee enema??? Guest guest
PH - thanks - your example of the stadium really makes sense. I am thinking and hoping that since my main problem seems to be digestion that I should just work on that through fasting and if I ever get the nerve up maybe starting coffe enemas. I was thinking of doing a liver flush maybe once every few months. I honestly have been feeling pretty good except my digestion and joint pains. Although, the joint pains come and go...they just happen to be coming right now However, they are not unbearable - just discomfort. I think I am going to get a juicer though and start doing some of that...maybe it will help me shed some of this extra weight too Much Love, Beth Re: Coffee enema Hi Beth,Patty said her doctor has been doing coffee enemas daily for 20 years!! Guest guest
I would like to know if a coffee enema accomplishes about the same thing as the standard grapefruit juice/olive oil flush. Dr. Gerson's coffee enema directions indicate that during the enema one may or even should feel or hear the gall bladder squirting out and emptying. The coffee enema is so much easier to do. Does it accomplish the same thing??? Bob
