East Godavari District: Care and Support program Information

Dear FORUM,

This email is to give you an Idea of the humble work we are doing in St. 's

Trust, Samalkot, East Godavari district, Andhrapradesh.

As on 25th September we are reaching 3360 People Living with HIV/AIDS

including 146 infected children. We started with 1st PLHA in the year

1992 and now we are reaching 3360+ HIV/AIDS patients. Our Care and

support program is being recognized and accepted as one of the best

models in the whole world.

Our Care and Support model is innovative, cost effective, replicable

and sustainable because it is community based. We have shown to the

world that it is possible to address stigma and discrimination. We

could improve the quality of life of all our PLHA and they are able

to live a life in dignity with out stigma and discrimination.

PLHA in our project area are able sell all kinds of eatables

including milk, milk products with out any stigma and discrimination.

Even 60 of our HIV infected school children are able go to Government

and private educational institutions from 1st class to 10+ with out

stigma and discrimination.

Even in the I.E.C (Information Education and Communication) & B.C.C

(Behavioral Change Communication) front so far we have produced more

than 1112 varieties of I.E.C and B.C.C materials.
