Guest guest
That is typical for us, very much so. Sometimes the Motrin will work well (often times not) and when the Motrin gets it down my boy is back and running and 90%. For us, what you are describing is normal and I think a lot of people on this board experience this as well. It is very frustrating to see your child's spirit being suffocated. I think you will find a lot of info, support, and encouragement on this board. Welcome!

Guest guest
, There is no need to be chicken. Take the necessary precautions for your skin and eyes, and you will be fine. Guest guest
Hello The best advice I read recently was to respect lye and I reckon that goes for newbies and long term soapers. Start with small batches. I usually only use about 1 kg of oils (I think that is about 32oz, if you use oz.) because there are so many beautiful recipes I want to try. I bought a 4 cup pyrex jug just for the lye solution so it is easy to stir gently and easy to hang onto and pour slowly. Just don't breath in the fumes, especially when it is first made, I use a mask or hand towel over my nose/mouth and be gentle and it won't splash. You will love your own soap. I am new to lotions and potions but an old soapie. Loretta in Australia _____ , There is no need to be chicken. Take the necessary precautions for your skin and eyes, and you will be fine. Guest guest
Hi Colleen, I am relatively new here too, and still learning new things to do with my machine. I had the same questions about agave several years ago and after some diligent research, decided to stop using it. This sums it up nicely for me: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-jonny-bowden/debunking-the-blue-agave_b_450144.html Teri New Member Introduction Hello everyone,Greetings from a newbie -- I received my Vitamix last week and am having a wonderful time making delicious, healthy smoothies and luscious frozen treats! Not sure if this is OT, but what does everyone think of agave nectar? I've been using it, but some recent articles claim that it is no better than high fructose corn syrup. http://green./blog/care2/364/the-truth-about-agave.htmlLooking forward to chatting with you all!Have a wonderful day,Colleen------------------------------------
Guest guest
Welcome, Colleen! I believe I posted a link to my favorite source for healthful agave nectar (although there's another brand I prefer for flavor); check the "Links" section on the left side of the group's home page. Read the information on the vendor's site for the skinny on agave nectar. Guest guest
That is a very interesting article. I read every word. I only use it once in a while, for certain things. I am a person who rarely even puts sweetner in tea, so I won't worry about it but this info will be passed on to husband the diabetic for sure. Guest guest
Agave has taken a negative hit mainly because the corn industry felt threatened by it. Yes, some unscrupulous companies MIGHT add corn syrup to their agave, but overall, agave is WAY healthier-it isn't genetically modified and highly refined like corn is. Wholesome brand is reputable, and does NOT add corn syrup to their agave. I am allergic to corn and would know instantly if their was any corn in it-as I discovered the hard way with some others. Madave is a safe brand also. > Hello everyone, > > Greetings from a newbie -- I received my Vitamix last week and am having a wonderful time making delicious, healthy smoothies and luscious frozen treats! > > Not sure if this is OT, but what does everyone think of agave nectar? Guest guest
So, did you read that huffington article? IT was not about corn being added but about the type of sugar itself that makes up agave syrup. I found it quite informative. I was skeptical going into the article because of what you say, I thought it would be tearing down agave for having something in it that should not be there, not so. I keep a bottle of the Blue Agave that Costco sells in the fridge and we use it once in a while. Guest guest
Actually, with the exception of one, all agave nectars are cut. Guest guest
I use agave mainly because I am highly allergic to corn. I don't use it often, since I prefer to get sweetness from dates or fruits, and I rarely have anything sweet anyway, but it is a great ingredient for many things that would use regular sugar or corn syrup. > Hello everyone, > > Greetings from a newbie -- I received my Vitamix last week and am having a wonderful time making delicious, healthy smoothies and luscious frozen treats! > > Not sure if this is OT, but what does everyone think of agave nectar? Guest guest
I was thinking today about the fact that my taste (need) for sweet has gone down so much, in spite of the fact that I drink smoothies made with fruit (and veggies). If someone hands me something with sugar, it almost "curls my teeth" at times from being so sweet. Even tea, I have all but stopped adding any sweet to it at all, except in a restaurant when sometimes the tea is a bit strong and the sugar helps make it taste a little better, esp when they are stingy with lemon. Today at the store I was offered a sample of a new bottled tea. I asked if it was sweetened and the gal said, yes. I then told her no thanks and said I do wish manufacturers would put out a line of unsweetened tea. Not with sugar free sweetner, but totally unsweetened. I do make my own mostly, but when we are say going on a picnic and I stop for something, it would be nice to be able to pick up totally unsweetened tea in a bottle. I have been surprised at how right here in California they are now serving what they call "sweet tea" in the fast food places, and I don't mean the stuff from the machine where you choose which syrup they are making your soft drink from but in the regular pre-made tea dispensers, which used to have only plain tea, they are now having two and one is "Sweet Tea", like I associate with the southern US. I just find it amusing, like why they don't just say, sugar added? OR, better yet, just have one dispenser and let people decide whether to add a packet of sweet or not? Sorry for my long silly ramble. I was going to make a tea slushie here today, until I realized it is only 60 out today, not exactly iced tea weather. Guest guest
Good morning! I've been trying to follow the information on this group by receiving the digest emails but i cant seem to keep up that way so I'm going to try out having it all delivered to my inbox. I'm a stay at home mom of 3 year old twin girls, an 18 month old boy and am expecting our fourth any time now! I selectively vaccinated our twins for a year then stopped all together, I gave my poor son one full round of shots of 2 months or so and then stopped all together. I thought that I had to be misinformed about vaccines so I let them vax my ds. The afternoon after my son had all those shots he started to scream and fall asleep, scream and fall asleep with a fever rising. It was TERRIFYING. I knew exactly what was causing it, at that time all I could do was pray. Thankfully prayer is AWESOME and after crying and praying his fever left and he stopped screaming almost immediately. I knew I shouldn't have given him the shots and he hasn't had another since. We've never done flu shots for ourselves or our kids and I don't think that any of us have ever actually had the flu... If we have it was so insignificant that we didn't realize it was the all devastating flu! I look forward to learning more from everyone here and hope to stay abreast of current vaccine issues. Guest guest
Welcome, Jen! You are not the first parent to allow vaccination even if we were hesitant about it. But you were smart and knew it was causing your son's problems. Many parents wouldn't have put two and two together. Glad to have you here, and congrats on your latest pregnancy!
