I believe I passed a stone b/c a few days later, at an ultrasound before my surgery, there was now only one stone instead of 2, but it was located at the end of the gallbladder, so it seemed that it was blocking the main duct out possibly. I chose not to do a liver flush b/c I didn't feel 100% sure about the safety of it while pregnant, and I didn't feel I knew enough about it, and time was of the essence as I was having an attack about once a week. I have always been constipated, so I feel that had I not had colon hydrotherapy done b-4 a flush, I would have been in really bad shape as it all would have just backed up and caused a lot of pain and cramping. My hydrotherapist was recommended by a woman who passed all her gallstones via colon hydrotherapy with coffee and drinking some special herbal teas in between sessions. I couldn't take the teas being pregnant, nor the coffee enemas. The colon hydro did help me a lot. Right after my surgery, for the next 3 months, I could eat anything without problems pretty much. I did get some diarrhea here and there if I ate out but no other problems. I could eat dairy without getting headaches, and the bags under my eyes were gone. I thought it was from having a bad GB removed, but now I believe it was from the colon hydro removing built up toxins in my colon. Anyways, it's been 10 months since my surgery. Under eye bags are back bad. I need to get in and have another colon hydro done, this time with the coffee too. I will get diarrhea every once in a while, but haven't in a few months. However, now I am getting really bad drop dead if you are anywhere near me gas if I eat meat or chicken or any fats or oils even. Within 20-30 minutes of eating something, I'm having gas like every 30-60 seconds. I'm already back to eating gluten and dairy free, but if I eat dairy that also gives me gas. So, I probably have stones in my liver as opposed to getting stuck in my gallbladder. Kind of stinks that I'm part of that " 40% " of people who cannot go back to eating anything they want. I am nursing so I don't want to do a liver flush right now. Oh I also developed anemia since I stopped eating meat so when I gave birth I passed out shortly after. I think I was always borderline anemic so now I'm taking iron along with vit C, enzymes, B12, probiotics, CLO, prenatal, cal/mag, vit D and occassionally choline and AF Beta food tablets. Should I still take the last two if I don't have a GB? Anyways, I'm trying to follow a liver cleansing diet and will have another colonic done but is there anything else I can do to help alleviate the gas? I can't even tolerate ghee on homemade popcorn or olive oil on red potatoes. Also just read in the Body Ecology Diet book (starting that for my daughter-autistic), that if you have a bad liver, you pass that on to your baby. Great! Now she has a bad liver too. I'm also drinking small amounts of a super green powder mix w/chlorella and all that good stuff. But now I'm back to vegetarian and it doesn't seem to give me enough strength and energy throughout the day. I don't like fish. Anyways just wanted to add my experience. > > Sheri > > http://allnaturalmomof3.blogspot.com > >
Guest guest
I am looking for your liver friendly diet, I don't see it. Water? more the better. What about serious probiotics? You mentioned that you did not want to do a cleanse during pregnancy, but you chose to have surgery? Just wondering. Guest guest
I had the book " The Liver Cleanse Diet " and tried to follow that as best I could. I avoided all the obvious - beef, chicken, sugar, fats, etc. I ate a lot of GF sphaghetti, cereal, soup, oatmeal, salad, fruit, green beans, apples, tea for the liver, etc. Can't remember what else, but it was pretty limited. Getting back to that pretty much right now b/c everything else seems to cause issues. I used to eat a lot of organic chicken and grassfed beef for most of my meals. I do take a 15 billion probiotic every day. Should I do more? My dd has a 50 billion one. I do need to drink more water. I'm really bad about that. I drink mostly juice all day - organic apple or homemade lemonade. I don't drink pop or coffee. I'm 34, about 108 lbs. I'm thin except for my tummy which is very bloated, looks like I'm 3-4 months pregnant. Why I decided to have surgery? Fear. I was afraid for my baby if I continued to have GB attacks and I was afraid of not being able to take care of my other 3 kids. I am only 5'2 so being pregnant, already puts a lot of pressure on your organs up to your ribs. Add a GB attack, and I was having major difficulty breathing during the attacks. I could barely manage to get out a few words between shallow breaths. My attacks came on out of no where and would last about an hour to an hour and a half of severe pain and there was no way I could move to watch my kids. I had just started homeschooling my 9 yr old and was also homeschooling my 6 yr old and had a 3 yr old as well, and was going through a very bad divorce. During my 3rd attack, I had to have my son call 911 for an ambulance b/c I didn't know what was going on and I couldn't breathe. I didn't take any meds for the pain b/c I was 8 weeks pregnant. Found out I had 2 gallstones. I had no one to watch my kids and that scared me. One night at 11pm, I had a bad attack. I managed to get upstairs to have my 9 yr old call his friend's mom to come over and drive me to the hospital while her daughter stayed at the house to watch my younger two who were sleeping. Another time, I almost had an attack while driving on back roads 30 minutes away from our house to go pick up my dd from school. I had forgotten my cell phone and had my 2 kids in the car. I didn't have a full blown attack, but didn't know what I would've done if I did. I did almost try the cleanse at one point b/c I thought it would be safer than surgery, but I didn't. I didn't feel I knew enough about it and I had no one who would watch my kids. I read that you feel like you have a bad flu, and should I pass out in the middle of the night, who would be there for me or my kids? My parents were not going to fly up from FL for me to do a cleanse. I had also read after that, that you should do a colon cleanse beforehand. I didn't know that before I was going to try it, and that scared me how little I knew what I would be doing. I had also just read about the woman on 19 kids and counting. She was 26 weeks pregnant and had to have an emergency C-section so that she could get her GB taken out. Now she has a preemie baby, which could have been life threatening to the baby. That was biggest fear. I knew my baby was going to be small to begin with. I started the pregnancy out at 97 lbs b/c of stress. (I found out the week after my husband was out of the house that I was pregnant.) B/C I was able to eat so little, I was not gaining enough weight. I think I was 112 at 19 weeks pregnant. During an attack, the baby is under stress too, and not getting adequate oxygen. When I went to the hospital the second time, I asked for pain meds. They gave me a shot of something. Can't remember. I had all my kids at home without drugs, so for me to ask for pain meds is big. This pain was worse than labor and it is constant unlike labor that comes in waves. The following attacks, I got in the bath, and took one advil and one tylenol for the pain. I was afraid my baby was not getting adequate nutrition from what I could eat. Yes, I could have eaten veggies, etc. but that just wasn't happening with everything else I had going on in my life and trying to raise 3 kids on my own, one with ADHD, one with autism, and one with seizures. I cook constantly for their diets and I didn't have the strength, time, or money to put into my own needs. Anyways, I couldn't even imagine going through GB attacks in my third trimester. I was afraid I would not be able to breathe at all with a big belly. I was continuing to have attacks, despite hardly even eating and being pretty strict. I was drinking apple juice - about 8 oz a day. My holistic doctor through a fit. She said it had way too much sugar. I didn't realize I had to watch the natural sugars too. I thought apple juice was good for the GB. At that point, I just gave up. I didn't feel like I knew what I was doing and how to eat. I found conflicting info on the web. Was grapefruit good for the GB or did it cause an attack? If I ended up needing to have emergency GB surgery in the third trimester, my baby likely wouldn't have weighed enough to survive. If you have surgery while pregnant, it has to be in the 2nd trimester and my window was closing quickly, so I decided to do it. It wasn't a decision I made lightly. If I was able to make it till after the baby to have the surgery, I likely would have been unable to breastfeed and I usually breastfeed my kids for 1-2 years. I don't recommend GB surgery, but in my case, I felt it was my best option. I also am pretty sure I would not have been able to stomach the concoction. I tried drinking apple cider vinegar during an attack once, which led to several bouts of vomiting, which I had to take Zoloft (?) or something at the hospital to stop the vomiting. I had my dd at 40 weeks and she weighed 6 lbs. My other kids were right around 7 lbs, so had I had to have her early, she would have been very tiny. She was very healthy and still is. She's now 5 months. I am concerned though that I passed on a weak liver to her so trying to get healthy without going through a big detox which would pass on lots of toxins to her via the breastmilk. So anyways, there's your answer. I know you would not have done the surgery, but to each his own.
