Guest guest
I have a 4 yr old unvaxed daughter & we live in the British Virgin Islands. She had her first day at school today & I need to work out exemption papers because it appears that NO ONE has gone before me in requesting one! Sad. The head of the school was not even aware there was such a thing, so could not guide me. It is also unclear to me if the BVI follows UK or USA exemption guidelines. We live near the USA & so are influenced by them but I believe the vax schedule is UK. I am rather daunted to have to call up the clinic to ask for information because it is rare to find someone in authority here who knows what's what - they tend to to be easily thrown by things that do not fit the mold & you can get sent on many a merry goose chase. I would like to ask for some advice so that I can feel more empowered & ready to deal with any sticky areas. Can anyone help? Please...?! So far all I can do is guess, based on what I have read on this forum. We have had a form given to us that our Doc is supposed to fill out showing Vax record or reason for not vaxing. We have no Doc (have not needed one) so what should I do? There is a nurse in the clinic who rumour has it I need to contact since she deals with this sort of thing & may know what to do, I am just scared to call her until I know what traps I need to avoid at this early stage. I do not know whether to plead religious exemption (I am Christian but consider Vax to be a violation of nature & health) but also I could argue that my nephew was vax damaged & became autistic & so I am concerned about my daughter - is that enough to put forward? On a second topic... although we have not had to deal with any major cuts or scrapes I would like to be forarmed! In the school my daughter has just started at there is a rough fenced-in play area under trees where they are to spend most of their play time. There are roots & rocks protruding up in this area (yes I know, scary!) so my mummy mind is running ahead...in what way do I need to be prepared to defend against arguments for tetanus? Is it likely they will automatically do it in ER even if I am not there? Thankyou for spending the time to read this ) Cand
