Guest guest
I wonder where he gets that idea from. No college requires all vaccines. It goes by state law anyway. Some states might require a measles vaccine (meaning you're stuck with the whole MMR) or meningitis. However, most have waivers for the meningitis one, and perhaps allow a blood test for the measles--not to mention they'll accept exemptions which gets you out of any. I have two sons in college. Neither have "all" vaccines. Both use exemptions, one a religious and one a medical. Guest guest
I live in NYC. When I went back to college in the 90s I had to see the nurse and they told me they required an MMR update. I had it. Never thought about it back then. I would never accept it today. Guest guest
This is simply not true - unless he is attending college in West Virginia (which only has medical exemptions) or Mississippi (the same thing)All other states have religious, philosophical and/or medical exemptions from vaccines.Simply claim your exemption and your child is allowed to attend college (and any school) without being vaccinated. Even if the school tries to bully him telling him he must be vaccinated, stand your ground, knowing you are fully within the law and your legal rights. Guest guest
Did they give you a hard time at all? I used a religious one for my oldest son at a state school and handed it in in person to make sure it was settled. The nurse took the form then told me he needed the meningitis vaccine to live on campus. She didn't even know what an exemption form was! Another older nurse came over and sneered at me as she confirmed the exemption was good for the meningitis one, too. Guest guest
Well, not totally true - depends on the state Private schools don't have to follow state exemptions - but if they take ANY public money they do. What state are you in? Just depends on the state but most have exemptions for college also Sheri At 06:57 AM 3/6/2012, you wrote: >My husband says that our son cannot go to college unless he has had >all of his vaccines. Guest guest
What state? Not so in California. My oldest had no problems with waivers at San Francisco State. Guest guest
-We had no problems with my son who is partially vaxed. He went to a Catholic college in NY.I didn't even have to fill anything out, they just accepted his very limited vaccine form from the pediatrician. Guest guest
I am in upstate NY and all I had to do was claim religious exemption. So far it has not been an issue. Guest guest
Our son is 2 & 1/2 so he has not applied yet for colleges but my husband is concerned that he will not be able to get in college. He got that idea from his own experience in attending colleges as an adult. Unless he decides to become something rather technical like an engineer (which is possible he is a very detailed oriented individual) he will probably go to a private college in California. Perhaps, I should call them. Feels silly though with him not yet being 3 years old. > > > > > Get an exemption.
