Guest guest
Does anyone have a recipe for home made sunscreen? I know I have seen in somewhere but can't remember where. Thanks, Sylvia
Guest guest
I don't, but I bought an organic one online that has only 9 ingredients, and they're all organic...It's upstairs, but if you're interested, I can get the name and give it to you... Guest guest
Hi: I just got it. Go to http://frugallysustainable.com/2012/03/a-recipe-for-natural-homemade-sunscreen/ My daughter is putting her son in daycare in the fall and one of the requirements is that they have to come to the daycare with sunscreen on and have it applied every 30 minutes or something like that if outside. He is one year old. If they make a fuss we can just say that he has very sensitive skin-reacting with eczema to chemicals- which he does. The Day Care Asked about vaccinations as well and if no vaccines why...I just told my daughter to write the truth. Medical professional advised postponing vaccines due to severe familial neurological reactions. I don't know if she wrote that but something similar. It was a naturopath doctor but I consider him a medical professional. At this point postponing probably means never. Guest guest
It's called Green Screen and the ingredients are: Artesian Spring Water Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil Organic Jojoba Oil Vegetable Glycerin Organic Shea Butter Vegetable Emulsifying Wax Vegetable Vitamin E Iron Oxide I got the tinted one, because Zinc Oxide can make you look all white. But you have to be careful and put it on before you're dressed or try to avoid your clothes. I don't think it stains, but it will show on your clothes. You have to shake it before you apply it too. It's an SPF of 22. You can contact them here to find out more: 888-517-0414 www.kabanaskincare.com It was about $22 delivered, but it lasts a long time.... Guest guest
The daycare accepted that letter about not vaccinating? Any medical exemption has to be signed by a doctor, not by the parent telling what the doctor said. And it needs to be by a doctor who gives vaccines, an MD, even if we consider alternative docs the true medical professionals (and I do, too!). What state does she live in? Guest guest
Hi Winnie: Alanna told the Day Care before hand that he wasn't vaccinate and he is already registered with them. They just wanted to know why. So far we haven't had any struggle in the system. No letter required, she just had to check off yes or no to being up to date with vaccinations and if no, just a brief explanation as to why. We live in Alberta Canada. For the most part-around here people don't seem to have too much trouble when they don't do vaccinations. Our doctors also don't give vaccinations at least in this part of Canada to children under a certain age-6 year or older-I can't quite remember what our doctor said. And he said Thank Goodness and I didn't press him about what he meant by that. And typically All vaccines for school age children are given through the public health system-public health nurse. We have had no one phone-nothing. Our doctor knows he is not vaccinated and likely never will be-he doesn't bring it up in discussion as I still think it is quite awkward for them -need to spout the pharma stuff and maybe get into trouble if they don't press it. He knows that we are quite "strange" -more into healthy choices etc. LOL When he ordered the required ultrasounds for my daughter when she was pregnant, and there were a few, when Alanna went back for her doctor's appointment and he wondered where the results were for all of them she said, "My Mom had a fit when she saw all those requisitions and told me we don't know what that does to the baby." He laughed and said something to the effect, "Yes, I know your Mom well. That is okay." Kind of strange because I always think of Canada as being behind the States when it comes to acceptance of alternative choices but maybe this is one area we are more accepting. It seems from reading this list serve that there are lots of problems with exemptions in the US. Maybe I just don't hear about it with Canadians but again I work with lots of Canadian families who don't vaccinate and I can't recall any huge problems for them. Could be wrong. Have been before.... Guest guest
Hi Winnie: I knew I had seen this somewhere. I got this off www.vaclib.org So, vaccination is not mandatory. CanadaHEALTH CANADA STATEMENT ON IMMUNIZATION"Unlike some countries, immunization is not mandatory in Canada; it cannot be made mandatory because of the Canadian Constitution. Only three provinces have legislation or regulations under their health-protection acts to require proof of immunization for school entrance. Ontario and New Brunswick require proof for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, and rubella immunization. In Manitoba, only measles vaccination is covered. It must be emphasized that, in these three provinces, exceptions are permitted for medical or religious grounds and reasons of conscience; legislation and regulations must not be interpreted to imply compulsory immunization. Guest guest
Oh, so it's not an issue for her then. I wonder why the daycare is asking about something that isn't required, though. Is it a private business that can make their own rules? Guest guest
That's good to know about Canada being more accepting. I've never had any real problems with exemptions but some have depending on where they live, not to mention the latest attempts to legally infringe on our rights to exemptions.
