Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to handle a preschool and a refuse to vaccinate form. My daughter called this morning and I nowhave in my possession the refuse to vaccinate form she is supposed to sign to get my 3 year old grandson into preschool. His older brother was there 2 years ago and there wasn't any such requirement. She just signed the Missouri religious exemption (although I see it has on it: "Unimmunized children have a greater risk of getting these vaccine-preventable diseases which can lead to serious complications.") The preschool is affiliated with the school district, but I was told it is run as a separate business. My daughter went to school with the director, so I don't know whether to tell her we can't sign the form the way it is orjust do some crossing out of words and turn it in with the rest of thepaperwork without calling attention to the fact that we did so. I am surprised it is the American Academy of Pediatrics form. Their doctor is in family practice and doesn't bother them at all about not vaccinating. The last time the 7 year old was there she just wanted to know how he gotinto school and my daughter said with the religious exemption. It looks like this form needs to be filled out by the doctor. She hasn't recommended any vaccines in the past as she knows my daughter isn't doing them, so Idon't know what she would put on the form. I suppose she would probable check things off if it was put in front of her as she is an allopath. I called the Missouri Department of Health this morning and of course all the specialists are in a state wide meeting at the moment. I wanted to see what they had to say on what the preschool can require. from Missouri
Guest guest
There is no way in hell I would sign that form b/c at some point it’s going to bite her in the butt. Refer to line.. know that failure to vax may endanger…. She just admitted that vaccines work and that FAILURE TO VAX will **endanger** her child. She’s signing that. YES, I’m abusing my kids. I’m putting them IN DANGER. That just RoARS of a CPS investigation and action .. nope. I wouldn’t sign it. I would make up my own or homeschool. No 3 y.o. needs to go to a preschool anyway. Get some playdates, get some curriculum if need be.. time with Mama is what a 3 y.o. needs, not doing worksheets having the fun of learning sucked out of him and missing mom! Guest guest
From my experience, the less you talk to the Health Dept the better, because they will definitely try to coerce you to vaccinate by making it sound harder to not vax than it actually is. If you talk to them, don't give them specifics...
Guest guest
You are correct. This is the form doctors have you sign. They are the ones who would be giving the Vaccine Information Statements, not a preschool. Worse yet, they have all vaccines listed, including the HPV vaccine! No preschooler gets that shot! This is total nonsense. Here's the law according to NVIC's site: "b) A parent or guardian exemption, by which a child shall be exempted from the requirements of this section if one parent or guardian files a written objection to immunization with the day care administrator. Exemptions shall be accepted by the day care administrator when the necessary information as determined by the department of health and senior services is filed with the day care administrator by the parent or guardian. Exemption forms shall be provided by the department of health and senior services." This is from the DPH: (http://www.sos.mo.gov/adrules/csr/current/19csr/19c20-28.pdf) which outlines the law in detail and includes all exemption forms. It does NOT include the AAP form the preschool gave her. I would sign the one you have to sign, and inform the director that she is not using the proper, legal form. Friend or no friend. Guest guest
they can't require anything other than what the law states Copy the law and write your statement with the wording of the law and attach it and give it to them. If they want more, ask them to show you the law requiring that Sheri At 07:19 PM 4/13/2012, you wrote: I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to handle a preschool and a refuse to vaccinate form.
