Guest guest
Danita, I have never had any problems with general or local anesthesia. Any surgery I have had as an adult, I request to meet with the anestheologist a day or two before hand to go over the procedure and inform of my CMT. Because CMT is already in my medical file, it seems the anestheologists have reviewed this even before I got to see them face to face. They have always been very receptive to this idea. I also mention my motion sickness, because they can give me a certain anesthetic that won't cause nausea. After my back surgery in '02, I did this and not only did I wake up fast and quick, no nausea and no CMT/nerve problems either. It was all done IV. No intubation. :-) In our 'files' section look under " anesthetics and CMT " , there are a couple of articles there on anesthetics and CMT. Also check http://www.cmtworld.org to see what they've got from the magazine or past newsletters. ~ Gretchen
