Guest guest
Thank you, everyone, for your anesthesia advice. I'm going to try contacting the anesthesiologist in advance. It sounds like it's possible for them to select drugs that pose the least risk, and perhaps those drugs aren't the ones most commonly used. Also, I'm going to be mindful of the need for rest. In college I had four wisdom teeth pulled in one surgery.... two were impacted. I told my instructors I would probably miss one day of school. I was out for one week! This may or may not have had anything to do with CMT, but it was how it went. In the '90s I had a surgery to remove a kidney stone, and got called by my employer the day of the surgery asking when I'd be back at work. I also ended up with blood sepsis which kept me stuck in bed in the hospital, waiting for the fever to go down. I was getting really bored there, but.... something good came of it. Staying that extra time allowed me to rest! I wasn't caring for two toddlers and one preschooler immediately. My employers were happy to see that I managed a few hours of work one day after my discharge. Of course, all this happened before I knew about CMT. So... allowing for rest is really important, and it is a point I forget until or unless I am forced to rest. I'm not good at pacing myself.
