Guest guest
Hey There: I have a truck with a manual transmission - When I wear my AFOs I have difficulty handling the brakes, gas and clutch - my feet just wont move quick enough - I was wondering if anybody else had this trouble. I have a job where I am in and out of my truck so a lot of times I don't wear my AFOs because I have to them off when I drive. Also, I agree that a positive attitude is very important plus it helps to laugh at yourself and not take things so seriously - When I am out with friends and I stumble I just laugh it off. Guest guest
Dave, I actually have a restriction on my Wisconsin driver's license that I cannot drive a car with manual transmission or one without power steering. I used to love to drive a stick, but can't imagine doing it wearing AFOs. K
Guest guest
Dave, I drive a manual full size chevy truck, I have articulated AFOs which helps. I do have a little trouble and must " drive accordingly " but get along quite well although clutch life may be slightly reduced. I really have little more trouble driving it than my auto shift car. I know what you mean by getting in and out! That is a problem for me in Ford trucks (my first choice) the darned seat won't go back far enough! My car is an ancient full sized station wagon and I have a little trouble getting in and out of it, but power seat and tilt wheel help after I'm there. If this car gives up I may have to get a Volvo wagon. Traditional SUV's are too high off the ground and the newer ones are tiny. Didn't like a Hummer either. Not ready for hand controls ....YET!
