The House Health Care Committee voted to reverse the Senate's decision. The Senate passed a bill that requires all children be vaccinated against a range of illnesses. The bill prevented parents from claiming " philosophical exemptions, " which would allow them to refuse to vaccinate their child before sending them to school. The House committee, however, passed a bill that allows for those philosophical exemptions. " The bill they voted out will not directly address the decline in rates we've seen in Vermont. I am disappointed. I wish they could've done more, " said Sen. Mullin, R-Rutland County. " I feel satisfied that the committee dug in and did its best to come to a compromise and I think it's a step forward; a modest step forward, but it is a step forward, " said Rep. Fisher, D-Lincoln. Mullin sponsored the bill, which passed with a strong majority in the Senate. He says he's hoping once it hits the House floor it will be changed back.
