Guest guest
Hey Friends, Thank you all for the great info about meds for tremors. More about the Diamox--my doc tells me that 75% of the people who develop kidney stones from Diamox, do so in the first year. Since mine did not come along until 2 years later, she assumed it was related to something else. Truth is, I do not know, with great certainty, what precisely causes my stones, but my GP is betting on the Diamox. I will let you know if the kidney doc, with whom I have an appointment in 2 weeks, has another idea. For those of you who would not develop stones, Diamox may be a very good option. I have not had any Diamox for about 4 days. The tremor is returning, but interestingly enough is the improvement in my mood. It is hard to know if the Diamox was contributing to a somewhat lower mood, given that I am generally upbeat and enjoy life. For unknown reasons I feel really good. I share this for those of you who may want to consider Diamox. The doc and pharmacist tell me that most people tolerate it quite well for many years. I tried Inderol about 30 years ago when it was new. I had an odd reaction to it and only took it for a few weeks. It may be worth another try. I took Elavil for insomnia a few years ago, with no effect on my tremors, but had nightmares with it--that's when the doc suggested Diamox. It works great for me, but the ugly side effect of kidney stones is certainly too big a price to pay. Thanks again for the help. Tom
